Judge to host Fathers Day enforcement in Batavia
Fifty fathers behind on court ordered child support will explain their lack of payments to Judge Robert P Ringland in common pleas court on October 16 at 9 a.m. Bench warrants will be issued for those who do not attend. Enforcement Day IV, Fathers Day, targets non custodial parents who fail to provide for their children. Prosecutor George E Pattison says about half of those ordered to pay support stay current. If payments stop mothers may apply for Aid to Dependent Children or other aid, shifting costs to taxpayers. Past Fathers Days drew 60 parents summoned each time to boost collections, say Pattison and enforcement investigator John Perin. Normally five hearings a month are held with about 20 cases per session.
