Milford Site for UC Branch Urged at Citizens Meeting

More than 100 Milford residents heard a committee push for the University of Cincinnati to open a college branch at the former novitiate site of 60 acres. Leaders stressed central county location and noted a $3 million state appropriation. UC officials also considered sites near Clermont County airports. Public officials including State Rep. William H. Church honors 65 year member Louis Weaver

The First Baptist Church of Amelia recognized Louis Weaver for 65 years of membership on Sunday October 5. Weaver born July 31 1887 near Amelia has lived all his life in the area and served as deacon and general secretary of the Sunday School for over 50 years. He has not missed a worship attendance for more than 26 years and has read the Bible at least 100 times. He formerly worked for Lipps Coal Yard and the Cincinnati Georgetown and Portsmouth Rail Line and now lives with the McLarens near Amelia.

Clermont County Mayors Set Beggars Night for Oct 30

Clermont County Mayor’s Association met October 1 at Batavia Municipal Hall hosted by Mayor Richard Jamieson. The mayors agreed to designate Thursday October 30 from 6 30 p m to 8 00 p m as Beggars Night and Sheriff Don Watson supported the time and patrols to enforce it.

Trojanettes Tromp For New Uniforms Sunday

Glen Este High School girls drill team the Trojanettes will tromp through the community from 1 to 5 p.m. asking for donations to raise 3500 dollars. A Trojanette thermometer at Sunoco Mt. Carmel will track progress toward the goal as residents are urged to support the fund-raising effort.

Absentee Voting Deadlines Set for General Election

Secretary of State Ted W indicates absentee ballots available to those far from polling places and to disabled voters. Deadline for in person applications is Oct 30 at 4 pm and for returning ballots Oct 31 noon. Armed forces and spouses get extended deadlines with ballots counted if received by Nov 4 noon.

Officials Visit Area Airports to Review Facilities

Clermont County Commissioners flew Monday to inspect air port facilities in Fayette, Madison, Greene and Warren Counties to aid decisions on improvements at the new Batavia area airport. Pilots were Roy Heddleston of Clermont Airways and John Cornett. travelers included Arthur Blake, Stanley Cann and Harold Bissantz.
