Clermont Northeastern Schools Win FCC FM Permit

The Clermont Northeastern Schools received FCC approval for a 10 watt FM educational station. Station manager Lonnie Barker Jr. says the unit should be on air by November 1, contingent on equipment delivery and installation. Call letters will be assigned and the program aims to pipe classes into Clermont County classrooms.

Burg Main St Reconstructed in Clermont County

Ten local workers are employed on the $307,939 project to reconstruct Burg Main Street in Clermont County. Herbert F. Jeffries of Amelia State Bank represents the county at the Sixth District Luncheon Meeting of the Ohio Information Committee in Chillicothe. The Ohio Information Committee is an independent body.

Bethel offers land for UC branch site at DeVaughn Farm

Bethel village council, at a special meeting, offered a 57 acre tract on SR 133 as an outright gift for a University of Cincinnati branch. The former DeVaughn Farm near East Fork Reservoir area would place the branch closer to Brown and Adams counties, near SR 125 and not far from the Appalachian Highway. Robert Wichard, UC Branch committee chair, presented the Chamber of Commerce proposal noting broader regional benefits.

Miami Township group backs UC branch and circle freeway plan

The Miami Township Business and Professional Men’s Association led by Charles Goolsby and Don Lykins organizes a charter and sets a meeting in Mulberry. Members including Mayor Maurice Bernges and zoning inspector Ed Roll discuss Circle Freeway sewer system and county A C branch while eyeing Clermont County higher education funding. The group invites local professionals to join and meet again October 14 at the township hall.

Beechmont Mall Announces Gala Premiere Show

Cincinnati's Beechmont Mall invites shoppers to a gala premiere on Sunday Oct 5 with 50 stores including two major departments. Grand opening follows Monday Oct 6 at 10 am with Amelia High School Stage Band performing under Gerald Robinson. Visually, a Rain Fountain and parklike seating highlight the enclosed center on Beechmont Ave across from Anderson Hills Junior High School. Word circulated that EDA funds might support a hospital in Ohio though several southern hospitals already received funding. Officials warned there is no EDA money for hospital projects this fiscal year and policy blocks agency involvement in such ventures.
