Bridge Dedication Along Little Miami Draws Big Attendance
The September 22 dedication celebrated the new single span truss bridge over the Little Miami between Branch Hill and Symmes. Construction began May 1922 after dismantling the 1871 suspension bridge. Nolte Construction Co. led piers and parapets, Middle States built iron work, and concrete floors completed by Nolte. The bridge opened to the public September 22, 1923. Reverend J. O. Kilmer returned for a second year at the M E church, greeted by a surprise welcome from the Junior Choir and an Aid Society reception with a rocking chair presented to the pastor and his wife.

Walter Blinker of Cincinnati suffered a broken back when a wagon machine ran out of control near Williamsburg on the way to Sardinia. The wagon turned over with four passengers, all others escaping. He received first aid then was taken to Cincinnati Hospital.

Time Change Affects Sunday Morning Routines
On Sunday morning last people began the day on the old time, the final change having been made though its stay was valued by many. The shift proved advantageous to all with employment.
Corn Cutting Season Presses Local Labor
The corn cutting season is underway with many workers pressed into service. Labor costs 50 cents per hour plus dinner. Last Saturday eight Batavia foundry men cut 400 shacks by 4:30 p m at H. M. Reynolds above town. Reynolds planted 75 acres to corn.

Jacob J. Kline of Batavia died Monday at 4 p.m. in St Elizabeth Hospital Covington Kentucky at age 71. He was born in Batavia and survived by brothers Fred J. Kline John A. Kline and sisters Louise Kline O Neill Ella Kline Spellacy. Funeral Requiem High Mass was held at Holy Trinity Church Batavia with interment in St Philmena cemetery Stonelick.

Grand jury session opens with mixed cases
