The Whaitaker family portrays the need for ongoing scientific study as Muscular Dystrophy remains without known cause. About 10,000 people in the Cincinnati area will join a National Thanksgiving March on Muscular Dystrophy, part of a nation-wide effort on Sunday, November 18.

Harold Richards Floyd Watson and Thomas Young of Gilbert Automotive Parts Co Batavia Riverside Dr attended the 21st National Business Conference of the National Automotive Parts Association at the Neil House Columbus September 23 25. More than six hundred fifty people from twelve states took part in the three day session.

Thomas St. Ellis of Pleasant Plain was found guilty Wednesday in Common Pleas Court on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses by a Brown County jury. Judge John Houston presided and disbarment proceedings have been filed against him.
The Amelia Woman's Civic Club announces a fall dance to raise funds for park development. Tickets priced at 2.50 include refreshments and door prizes and are sold by club members. The event features Bill Weimer's orchestra at the Anderson American Legion Hall from 9 pm to 1 am on October 6. Proceeds support Amelia Community Park improvements.
Mrs Gladys Reed receives the Cancer Crusade award at the Clermont County unit annual meeting held at Batavia Methodist Church. The Reed group collected the county’s largest total and exceeded quota by 271 dollars. Russell J Speidel chaired the event with Fred F Steps present.
Congressman William H. Harsha announced that the Post Office Department is considering postal quarters at Williamsburg and will establish city delivery with a new facility. He criticized delays, saying Williamsburg needs are as urgent as other areas and urged swift action.
State treasurer Joseph T. Ferguson reported that Clermont County collected 39 234.40 in prepaid tax receipts and 8 021.91 in motor vehicle sales and use tax for the week ending Sept 22. Fiscal year to date receipts total 211 323.04 versus 124 867.31 last year with motor vehicle tax for the period at 108 685.42, up from 69 239.66.
Glenn E. Burress asks residents to register for a new elementary economics course offered by CBS in conjunction with the University of Cincinnati. The course began October 1 and airs on WCPO-TV and WHIO-TV each weekday morning. Registration runs weekdays until October 15 at UC Evening College, McMicken Hall.
The county total registered voters reached 37 248 after the final registration day on Wednesday. Election officials said 60 people registered at the board office and 1 988 at polling places across Clermont County for the November election.
The Cincinnati Metropolitan YWCA launches an eight week program for Young Wives of Eastern Hill Clermont County beginning Wednesday. Activities include Slimnastics, coffee, bridge lessons, mosaics, metal enameling, and Christmas decor. A supervised playroom runs 9:30 to noon for ages two through five. The Clermont County Scottish Rite Club will meet Saturday Oct 6 at 6 30 PM in the new West Clermont High School building on Clough Pike near Amelia Olive Branch. Ed Wimmer NFIB vice president will speak on What Do We Mean When We Say Liberty Equality and Fraternity inviting all Clermont County Scottish Rite members and their wives to attend.
Bethel Assembly No. 143 of Rainbow for Girls held a public officers installation on Saturday at 8 p m in the Masonic Temple Plane Street Janet Jacobs daughter of Mr and Mrs J W Milton was installed as worthy adviser She is a senior at Bethel Tate high school active in school church and community affairs
Lowell H. Gray a Cincinnati based Alcoa district manager with a long career dating to 1922 in Cleveland retired after 40 years. A dinner at Hyde Park Country Club honored his service with Alcoa officials guests and district personnel. Gray helped promote aluminum uses including forged propellers refrigerator insulation and all aluminum fishing boxes.
Wil liamsburg’s J Kermit Smith and Milford’s James L Brown were named by Clermont County commissioners as co chairs of the drive to pass a proposed one mill tax levy for county government operations. An executive committee and speakers bureau will organize to explain the levy to civic groups. more names were added to the list as the campaign forms. If approved, revenue will be distributed evenly among county offices and agencies based on need.
Miss Louise Nuxell, Social Security representative, will hold sessions at Batavia every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the courthouse annex. The service extends from Swifton district office to assist with old age and disability claims under the new law paying benefits at age 62.
Williamsburg Milford and east Cincinnati editors join Jack Douglas producer host of Across the Seven Seas. The students attended a Greater Cincinnati high school editors press conference at the Linton Hotel and learned production techniques for the educational series. The program airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on WLW TV Channel 5, funded by Cincinnati Gas and Electric and Central Trust.
