Royal Arch Masons Hold Convocation in Ohio

The Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of Ohio holds its annual convocation at the Masonic Temple in Cincinnati on Oct 2 and 8. Batavia members Ralph Majczewsky and Donald Anstaett plan to attend. District memorial services honored 44 Masons who died in Clermont Warren Brown and Clinton counties, with Rev. E L Smith delivering the keynote address. Musical numbers were provided by a quartet of John Huntington Francis Deter Henry Howland and Percy Jamieson.

Air Corps Seeks 834 New Recruits in Preparedness Push

The War Department authorized 834 three year enlistments for the U S Army Air Corps as part of a preparedness quota. Applicants must have a high school level education or a journeyman rating in a trade. Some enlistees may receive special training as motor and aviation mechanics. Enlistees will report to Patterson Field Dayton Cha nute Field Rantoul Jefferson Barracks or similar posts. Ages 18 to 35 should visit the nearest recruiting office.

Entertained Society Members in Olive Branch Methodist Event

The Women's Society of Olive Branch Methodist entertained guests on Thursday afternoon September 26. Officers gave a fine report while Mrs Otis Dudley performed piano selections and a spelling contest entertained attendees. Clermont relief rolls top one thousand in county

Ohio figures show 128 583 aid for the aged recipients statewide in September with Clermont county rolls rising to 1084 from 884 when Bricker took office. Average monthly checks edged up to 21.04 while total aid payments increased by 81 million dollars without new taxes.

Presbyterian Sesquicentennial Pageant to Open Series in Cincinnati

The Presbyterian sesquicentennial in the Cincinnati area will begin with the pageant Faith of Our Fathers in Emery Auditorium on October 16 and 17. The 150 year anniversary traces to Rev. David Rice founding Cincinnati’s first church in 1790. An 800‑member cast and 200‑voice chorus perform guided by John Redhead Froome with music by Hubert Kockritz.

50 Year Medal Presented to E C Ely in Batavia

Approximately 90 Masons from Clermont County and Ohio gathered at Batavia Lodge No 104 F and A M to honor Edwin C Ely on his 50 years of service. The ceremony featured talks by lodge leaders and judges, piano by Donald Jamieson, and Ely receiving the medal from his son Forrest E Ely. Ely had served as lodge secretary for over 25 years.
