Guard Rail Replacement Planned on US 52 East of Newton
After 16 years a guard rail will replace the unsightly barrels on U S 52 east of Newton. ODOT director Dick Weir said bids on the new guard rail will be set on November 6. Prior attempts to remove the barrels have met delays.

Kindergarten transfers ease Amelia School overcrowding
By Melinda Voris the kindergarten unit from Amelia School is moved to Merwin to relieve overcrowding. The autistic class of six students will join Unit C at Merwin, reducing class sizes to about 25. Supplementary contracts were approved for Albert to Girls Track and Thomas with stipulations. Mayor Hinson cast the tie breaking vote to approve purchases and contracts amid council absences.

SR 28 traffic figures await analysis by ODOT official
Traffic counts at four SR 28 intersections are pending study by Ohio Department of Transportation. News releases announce a $10 million park hotel and conference center to be built beside the hotel in Miami with four major operators negotiating. construction begins spring 1981 and opening is slated for fall 1982. The 200 room hotel will include desks, closed circuit TV, and multiple auditoriums. A training center driven by corn field computer engineering is described as revolutionary for the area.
