Residents anticipate a lively December 9 charity ball at the Armory with Ches Wahle’s orchestra providing music into the early hours. Junior Woman’s Club members oversee arrangements as the community looks for another bright spot on the local social calendar.
Clermont County Selective Service Board orders 22 draftees to report for induction on December 7 and 12 to undergo physicals on December 5. Inductees include Clark Robson Deel Williamsburg, Melvin Beeres Loveland, Shannon Wilder Loveland, and others from Amelia Batavia Milford and Branch Hill. Physicals in Cincinnati December 5 list Raymond Lillich Amelia and several from New Richmond Batavia and Pleasant Plain.
The Courier runs a contest identifying two old images from a county accident in which a covered wagon went over a bridge abutment and three people drowned. First with exact information wins a $50 prize. others may win cash awards and a year’s subscription.
Funeral services for Louie F. Gardner 76 burned to death in his home near New Richmond were held at Lew F. White Memorial on Wednesday at 2 30 pm. Burial followed in Green Mound Cemetery. He leaves two sons Goebel and Claude and four daughters Mrs. Mabel Ireton Miss Mayme Gardner Mrs. Mattie Dodson and Mrs. Myrtle Burkte.
Donations from several groups and individuals support the Clement County Child Welfare Board's Christmas drive. Circle No 2 of the Presbyterian Church Loveland 15 children and others pledge gifts for 2 1 0 total and money from Mrs Mary Kincad Evalin Roberts Aldine O Neal Milford and Bill Massey Batavia. Gifts or sponsorships are due by December 15.
The Cincinnati Art Museum hosts a regional show including Paul Craft of Route Amelia and other Cincinnati artists. The fifth annual exhibit runs through January 9.
Allyone Anstaett will be installed as worthy patron and James Anstaett as worthy patron of the Celestine Grand Chapter of Ohio No. 185 OES in the Masonic Hall Williamsburg Monday at 8 p m. William R. Owen a past grand patron of the Grand Chapter of Ohio will install the officers.
Batavia Church of the Nazarene schedules a program December 17 30 p.m. in the Batavia School Auditorium. Rev Charles Keel states the Rev W E Alben district superintendent of the Western Ohio District will oversee the event.
