Tax Board to decide county library funding dispute

Clermont County Budget Commission seeks to dismiss a Clermont County Library Board appeal to tax funds from general revenue. The case, filed after 1948 voters approved a library board, questions whether funds used elsewhere can support the library. The Tax Appeals Board will hear further arguments before December 14.

Milford Tavern Operator Kills Self After Wounding Partner

In Milford a tavern operator, Charles E. Henson, 61, shot his partner Albert Clardello, 61, then killed himself with a 12 gauge blast near Main and Wallace Avenue. Clardello suffered neck and back wounds and was not considered seriously hurt at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Henson waited for Clardello after a bus ride, and after a confrontation, fired twice, with the second shot ending his life beside his car. Clardello was hospitalized and not described as critically harmed.

22 More Inductees From County to Report Thursday

The Clermont County Selective Service Board calls 22 men to report for induction on Thursday. They will depart Batavia at 8:30 a.m. for service. Earlier, 11 youths left Tuesday for pre induction physical examinations.

A new business building in Amelia is now occupied. The Amelia Post Office has moved into one room and the Schatz Pharmacy occupies the other. The Schatz Pharmacy first opened in Amelia on May 16 1937 in a smaller building across the street.
