Eddie Gansman, oil truck driver for Gulf Refining Co., was shot in the head while at Marathon Monday afternoon near John McGehan’s barn basement. He bled to death after being assisted by Donald Morgan and Dr. Haas, with no gun found. Coroner’s verdict: death by gunshot from unknown party.

Burglars Steal Slot Machine In Batavia Restaurant
Two burglars entered Cliff Weaver's restaurant in Batavia on Tuesday morning, ordered a bottle of Coca Cola, and stole the slot machine while the clerk faced away. Earlier, thieves took 25 chickens from O Fagin Earl Binning Geo Gibson and Henry Weakley on Monday night. No clue.

A wild deer visited the Dwight Johnson farm on Carr road around 7:00 am last Tuesday. The animal approached a watering tank with cattle and other livestock. frightened, it ran away as the others neared. The deer had been roaming Brown, Highland, Clinton and surrounding counties for weeks, marking its first appearance in this county. It was large with a fawn color, good antler spread and a short white tail.

Isaac Lowe alias Johnson, 57, toolworker, was returned from Cincinnati by Sheriff C. M. Camper to face murder charges in Giles County Virginia.
