First Criminal Jury Conviction Costs Record in County Court

Howard Hausersperger owner of the Daisy Mae and Little Abner Night Club in Goshen was sentenced to two 60 day terms and fined 500 plus costs for hindering an alcohol inspection and assault. The single jury verdict marked the first criminal conviction by jury in Cisnourt County Court.

Health Commissioner Installed as Clermont Medical Society President

Dr. Albert W. Van Sickle was installed as president of the Clermont County Medical Society at the November 20 meeting. He has served as Health Commissioner since January 1962 and is a Rochester medical graduate and retired Air Force flight surgeon. The society elected officers and discussed plans for a county general hospital with state planning representatives to cover financing through local funds.

Clermont Planning Board screens applicants for 1969 executive post

The Clermont County Planning Commission executive committee is named to screen candidates for executive director and report at the December meeting. The panel may select a successor to Charles Wiester, who will resign December 1. County Engineer Carl H. Rush may supervise the planning office until a new director is hired. A $1,000 return to the county general fund is approved, and a commendation letter from all members will honor Wiester’s work. Also approved are final plans for Dublin Subdivision Miami and a zoning review by the planning board. A public hearing is set for December 17 at 7:30 a.m. in Batavia court.

Clermont County commissioners approve a 6650 dollar bridge program in Washington township to address flooding along Maple Creek near Flat Rocks Church. Engineer Rush estimates 11300 needed for work including a bridge over Maple Creek, culvert and pipe replacements contingent on right of way. Township trustees seek county takeover of a private road for bus access and must meet standards before public hearing and acceptance. Minnick to Stay on Health Board Despite State Opinion

Clermont County health board member George J. Minnick will remain on the board despite an attorney general opinion finding incompatibility with his township clerk post. Minnick plans to serve until his township term ends in December, with no action taken by the board. The health department reported progress on funds, permits standardization, and a mobile X ray unit’s tuberculosis drive, while seeking veterinarians as inspectors for county slaughterhouses. The board voted to keep the health department office open Saturdays to serve citizens.
