Commissioners negotiate right of way to save money in De La Palma project
Clement County commissioners said easements for the De La Palma Road and bridge in Williamsburg township are signed and recorded. By negotiating the right of way for the 122000 project themselves they saved taxpayers several thousand dollars. Seven property owners were consulted and federal negotiators could have been used at tax payer cost. Land was purchased for 7550. Bids will be sought by the State Highway Department after year’s start. County and federal governments will share costs 61 each.

Woman Found Legally Insane in Murder Case
Mrs. Helen Nathanson, 49, of Summerside, accused of first degree murder in the Sept 7 slaying of her husband Mel Nathanson, 51, was ruled legally insane by Judge M Dale Osborne in Clermont County Common Pleas Court after testimony by Dr G N Wilson. She was committed to Lima State Hospital for treatment.

Ohio tavern suspended after liquor board action
Liquor officials suspend the Sohsen Tavern for 28 days starting December 9 over hindering inspections and assault of liquor agents during a July 28 visit. Owner Howard Hausperger, age 57, now faces a 60 day jail term, a $500 fine, and $499 in costs after a separate conviction. charges of after hours sales were dismissed. The case involves an altercation with agents and related legal actions, with claims of breaking and entering later filed by Hausperger against two agents. Prosecutors Harold Lattimer and Robert Ziegler represented the state in Cincinnati with Ralph A. Hill.

Five room Bethel home destroyed by early fire
The five room frame home of Mr and Mrs Walter Fancher on Patterson Road two miles east of Bethel was completely destroyed by a blaze reported at 7 am Wednesday. The cause was not determined and a bottle gas shortage hampered Bethel firemen. Mrs Fancher was hospitalized in Georgetown. Earlier, Bethel-New Richmond road resident Henry Weber reported 1500 dollars in damages from a separate fire of undetermined origin at 3 05 am Wednesday.

Final 1963 Vehicle License Fund distributed to counties and townships
State Auditor Roger W. Tracy announced the final distribution of 1963 auto license money totaling 2,985,939.60 for road purposes. Counties received 1,919,632.60 and townships 1,066,407 based on road mileage, with Clermont County getting 26,312.53 for counties and 11,088.13 for townships.

Rabbits Sighted On Thanksgiving Day Village Cruise
Police Chief Ed, Colonel and Patrolman Gary Ward counted 21 rabbits during a patrol around Batavia at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. They observed three rabbits on Victoria Ave and reminded hunters that discharging firearms within the village limits is illegal.

Countian's Death Ends Long Career In Shoe Industry
Thomas H. Stamm Sr., 79, a nationally known shoe last stylist and designer tied to Vulcan Corporation in Cincinnati, died Dec. 3 at Jewish Hospital. Funeral Dec. 6 at St. Elizabeth and Norwood. interment at St. Joseph New Cemetery. Stamm, a Cincinnati native, built a 62 year career starting with Rehhan Last Co and Morton Last Co before Vulcan acquired Morton in 1956. His work centered in Cincinnati, Blanchester, and later at Vulcan’s Ohio facilities. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, eight children, one sister, 18 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral handled by Nurre Brothers. calls accepted Dec. 5. He was honored in 1962 with a 60th anniversary dinner at the Queen City Club.

Bethel Teenagers Hurt in Collision With Cow
Three Bethel teenagers suffered minor injuries when their small sports car hit a cow and then an opposite tree on Rt 232, 25 miles southwest of Bethel.
