Youth Killed In Auto Crash

Clifford Glass, 22, employee of A. P. Motor Company in New Richmond, died after his car left Route 52 near Blairville two miles west of New Richmond. He was thrown from the demolished vehicle and died en route to Meade Memorial hospital. Investigators believe a tire blowout caused the crash during his drive home after visiting a friend in Independence, Kentucky.

Larkin Resigns From Batavia Village School Board

Batavia Village School Board accepts the resignation of S. L. Larkin a member and clerk. Robert J. Wood elected to the board will fill the vacancy starting January 1 with Larkin remaining clerk until December 1. The board praises Larkin and the retiring member for their service. Appointment of a new clerk will be discussed at the next regular meeting.

Postponed Murder Trial To Dec 30th

The first degree murder trial of Charles Conway, 69, near Edenton, set for December 2, is postponed to December 30 by Judge Charles G. White at the request of defense attorneys Daniel D. Murphy and Clarence Young due to Mr. Murphy illness.

Fire destroys eleven cottages at Epworth Heights camp

A fire Tuesday morning razed eleven cottages at Epworth Heights Camp Ground near Loveland. Fire officials say the blaze started from defective wiring as Loveland fire department battled the flames. Evangelist Billy Luna previously held meetings at the site years ago.

East Hill Farm Woman's Club Holds November Meeting

The East Hill Farm Woman's Club met November 7 at Lena Budo's home with 16 members and 1 guest. Members shared readings on Autumn and past happenings, followed by refreshments. Signers of regular and special base tobacco contracts can collect allotment cards at the AAA office in Batavia weekdays 8 am to 5 pm and Saturdays. Cards grant tax exemption on sales at markets opening December 3. Non signers face an 8 1 3 percent tax on net sale value when tobacco is marketed. Legionnaires Meet to Plan County Awards and Contests

The American Legion County Council gathered in Batavia on Monday night November 25 with reps from county posts. Officers elected were Vincent Clagens New Richmond chair, Dr J M Coleman Loveland and Harold Nichols Batavia vice chairs, Earl B Kincaid Mt Carmel secretary treasurer. Plans were made to sponsor school awards and essay contests again. Next meeting set for December 16 in Batavia.

Supervisors to Audit Clermont County Corn Hog Signers

Twenty two supervisors will visit farms of all 377 corn hog signers in Clermont County after December 1 to certify hog compliance. They will meet November 30 at Batavia Court House for instructions led by DB C Bradfute. Signers must present sales slips for hogs from litters born Dec 1 1934 to Nov 30 1935 for county audits and early adjustment payments after certificates are audited.

Birthday party planned for Jan 30 in Clermont County

Clermont County will again sponsor a Presidential Birthday party to raise funds against infantile paralysis. Allen B. Nichols, longtime chairman, announces the event on January 30 at the O N G Armory in Batavia. This year 70 percent of proceeds stay locally to fight the disease.

Batavia teams edge Felicity in tense Armory finish

In a thrilling Armory game Batavia boys slipped past Felicity 21 to 16 after a back and forth first three quarters. Batavia girls also defeated Felicity. Batavia hosts Bethel Wednesday and visits New Richmond Friday while Williamsburg boys beat New Richmond and Williamsburg girls beat New Richmond.

GOP Rally At Goshen Draws About 100 Supporters

The County Republican Central committee met at Goshen last Thursday night with about 100 attendees. Raymond J. Jeffreys of Cleveland gave a rallying talk urging immediate campaign work to secure votes for good government and a Republican victory in 1936. The December meeting was called off due to holidays. the next gathering is slated for late January at Moscow or Laurel.

Batavia School Bid Openings Signal Construction Debate

Bids for Batavia's new school building were opened with two general construction offers at 73000 and 78000 dollars. Bateman Gains Votes In Milford School Recount

A six precinct Milford Special School District recount at Batavia court house Friday night showed Sam Bateman two votes ahead of O C Jackson who requested the recount. Attorneys Sam Gatch and George Murphy watched as ballots were rehandled. Prosecutor Roberts represented the school board.

The county contest is divided into two rounds due to many contestants.
