Harris Wright, 16 year Batavia high school teacher, named principal and to teach part time this year. Dan Swart, five year Batavia math and science teacher, named administrative assistant in charge of curriculum and scheduling while continuing teaching duties. Swart holds BS from Wilmington College and ME from UC, pursuing a second ME and a third in physics. Wright directed the Sesquicentennial Pageant and is active in local groups. Three Youths Killed in Beechmont Levee Crash
A car crash on Beechmont Levee killed Richard A. White 20 from Amelia and cousins Viola Beckler White 20 and Donald Beuke 18, all residents of Fairfax and Madisonville vicinity. Lawrence Smith 22 of Allentown Pa. survived with arm and leg fractures after being stationed in Columbus with the Air Force. Funeral services were held for White and Beckler. Beuke had a requiem mass.
