Mortgages Down To Date In 1964

Clermont County mortgage filings fall behind 1963 by 467 deeds totaling $4,648,864 for the year to date. Through October 1964 2401 mortgages were filed versus 2868 in 1963, with total values of $31,036,214 compared with $35,675,098. Total 1963 mortgages were 3349 valued at $41,781,985. Only June and September showed upticks. October saw the sharpest drop, with 100 fewer filings than October 1963.

Kiwanis Presents Key Club Charter in New Richmond

The Kiwanis club of New Richmond formalized the charter of the newly organized Key Club on Tuesday evening November 10. The youth group, affiliated with Kiwanis and active at the Dodge Theater, was organized this summer under Kiwanis president Joe Middeler. Key Club officers accepting the charter were President Mike Simpson Vice President Ralph Helm and Secretary Treasurer James Glueck. Out of town guests and speakers attended the celebration.

The Miami Shamrocks and many clubs held an awards event with cash prizes for each A and B project. The club earned Honor Club status this year and last. Every member received an A in first aid.

Ohio county officials oppose liquor permit law impact

The Ohio Dept of Liquor Control is cited for spending nearly $12,000 on notifying authorities and holding hearings on permit apps with little council response. Batavia township trustees opposed Harold Longworths night club permit after state notice. Arthur Blake and Clarence Lytle attended hearings. The board received a notice that the permit was granted, saying objections were overruled for lack of a required hearing.

County auditor Earl Metzger reports October settlements totaling 318 861 in personal property taxes and 57 551 in classified taxes. Former Minister Jim Walters earns national insurance honor

Short funds doom Miamiville infant formula project

The Miami Township Industrial Development Corporation failed to raise $10,000 in pledges needed for an FAA loan to establish a baby formula plant beside Hill Top Research Lab. With $2,700 short, $7,300 pledged is being returned, and the Corp will become inactive while retaining its charter for future opportunities.

Quartet To Appear At Amelia Church

The Southern Aires Male Quartet of Dayton will sing at the Amelia Church of the Nazarene on Thanksgiving Sunday November 22 at 9 30 a m. A free will offering supports World Wide evangelism. Social Security moves its Batavia office from Court House Annex to the Armory at 65 N Second St. A representative will be there every Tuesday morning. The Cincinnati office remains at 7030 Reading Rd in Swifton Shopping Center with hours 8:45 to 4:45 Monday through Friday.

Cancer Society Names Chairman For Stonelick

Russell J Speider announces Mrs Raymond Averwater Owensville will serve as Stonelick Township branch chairman for the American Cancer Society. A Cincinnati nursing graduate and former Tumor and Urology head nurse at General Hospital she moved to Clermont County in 1954 with her husband and three sons. She will lead education service and crusade efforts and help expand branch units in the county.

Three Ohio counties eyed for new congressional district

Clermont Butler and Warren counties are discussed as the potential 24th congressional district. State Sen Jones and Rep Wilson suggest merging the counties if redistricting occurs. Population figures are Butler 218,137 Clermont 96,695 Warren 76,895.

Sky Hill Park Dentist Files Bankruptcy Action

Amelia dentist Dr. Paul N. Germann who runs Sky Hill Recreation Park filed a bankruptcy petition in U S District Court listing debts of 142502 and assets of 2301 with 1382 in receivables. He faced an armed robbery indictment tied to a disputed camera seizure during a park inspection and later cases between him and health officials were dismissed by mutual agreement.

Station changes hands at Batavia Gulf service

Bill Campbell and Humie Johnson are the new owners of the Anstaett Gulf Service Station at 66 W Main Batavia. Campbell and Johnson are former Anstaett employees with Batavia roots both tied to the town. Grand opening planned. The station offers tires lubrication brakes wheel balancing motor tune ups and towing with seven day hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and extended weekend hours.

Clermont County Tax Rates Raised With Several Districts Delayed

Clermont County Auditor Earl Metzger sets county tax rate up 10 cents per $1000 value. Several districts including Bethel Tate West Clinton and various townships have special elections December 8 with rates to be set later.
