Pete Hecktor a 52 year old real estate agent from Williamsville was named to fill the Union Township board vacancy effective December 26 He succeeds Stanley Cann who resigns December 26 to become Clermont County commissioner The appointment chosen from 14 qualified candidates reflects Cann’s southern township residency request and pays 1200 annually Hecktor brings long service to local fire and planning groups and has chaired county planning and the life squad ranks.

Worker Rescued After Sewer Trench Cave-In

A W L Harper Co employee was buried to the armpits in a sewer trench on Gardner Lane in Withamsville at 4 31 p m Tuesday. Kenneth Stevens 28 of Cincinnati sustained a fractured left shoulder and was treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Mariemont. The incident halted shoring work as the trench collapsed trapping Stevens for a time.

Jitney Supper Benefits Glen Este Scholarship Fund

Glen Este PTA hosts a jitney supper on Saturday December 5 before the New Richmond basketball game. Peiatn salad and cole slaw priced five cents each, two jitneys for meat. Start Christmas Mailing Now Postmaster Says

Postmaster Marvin Sprague of Clermont County urges early Christmas mailings. He explains that five cent stamps provide first class handling and forwarding, while four cent third class offers limited service. He advises including ZIP codes, using free labels for local and out of town delivery, and mailing long distance mail before December 10 with local packages by December 15.

Clermont County Commissioners rejected a request by Glen Este residents Mr and Mrs Harry Brinkman for waiving water line connection fees. Bond counsel Peck Shaffer Williams ruled no authority to grant partial or full waivers for nine home connections due to the timing and funding dispute and alleged delays costing up to 1000 dollars.

County Fikely To Stay In 6th District

Clermont County is proposed to stay in the Sixth Ohio Congressional District after reapportionment votes. The plan keeps Clermont in the district led by Rep. County Offices to Close for Holidays and Board Changes

Deer shotgun season set for December 3 4 in Clermont County

Deer shotgun season runs December 3 and 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. using single ball or rifled slug ammo. All hunting except deer and waterfowl barred from 12:01 a.m. Dec. 3 to 5:01 p.m. Dec. 4. The Citizens for Self-Government announce a new 8 p.m. December 10 meeting at Township Hall to discuss the proposed incorporation of Union Township as a city.
