Northeastern Hosts District Council Clinic

Northeastern high school hosted the District Council Clinic for the Ohio Congress of Parents and Teachers on November 15. About 100 attendees registered including five state officers and six council officers. Local officials welcomed visitors and speakers urged PTA leadership, father involvement, and state tax reforms for schools.

The Military Department of Howe Military School announces the promotion of Cadet Allan L. Brown to corporal. A sophomore at Howe, he is the son of Mr and Mrs James L Brown of Rt 1 Carterway Se Milford Indiana. Howe is a military prep school in northern Indiana.

Loveland Leader Heads OSBA as Group Seeks School Financing Fix

Ohio School Boards Association urged a bold drive to sponsor better school financing. New OSBA president Edward Schumacher of Loveland called the push the biggest thing yet for Ohio schools, with leaders from Clermont County backing a decade long funding plan and federal aid debates set aside pending evidence of federal control.

Heart Specialist to Address Clermont County Heart Council

Doctor Robert A. Lyon will speak on congenital heart defects at the Clermont County Heart Council meeting at the Batavia Presbyterian Church at 8 p.m. Tuesday November 28. The talk includes color film demonstrations of defects and repairs and a heart lung machine demo. Dr. Lyon is associate medical director of the Children's Heart Association and a Cincinnati pediatrics professor. He will take audience questions after the presentation. The event is free and open to the public.

Tax Receipt Sale Totals for Clermont County Week

Clermont County collected $16 617 30 during the week ending November 4 from prepaid tax receipts. State treasurer Joseph T Ferguson released the figures showing revenue this week and compares it with last year’s totals and year to date.

Gov Disalle Replies To Clermont County Student On Local School Support

Donna Shreve, a sophomore at Amelia high school, asked Governor DiSalle to investigate bus transportation cuts after an 8 mill levy failed. The governor replied that local boards run schools and rely on local support, noting curtailment of services follows insufficient levy funds and that students suffer as a result.

Loveland names William H. Shawhan first city manager after Nov 7 election under new charter. George F. Anderson to continue as mayor with Peter Brenner as vice mayor. Officers to be sworn in Dec 4. Principals Move Toward Uniform Transfer Card in Clermont County

At the Clermont County Principals Association meeting on November 14, members agreed on adopting a uniform student transfer card to standardize records and improve school operations. The department of education will supply the cards, with next meeting set for December 12 at Goshen Elementary.

Vote Recounts Set for Nov 27 28 in Clermont County

Recounts of two Moscow school precincts in the Felicity Franklin district and the West Clermont operating levy are planned for Monday and Tuesday, November 27 and 28. The Moscow transfer lost by 71 votes and the West Clermont levy failed by 272. Recount funding came from district residents with committees led by Georgia Utter and Mary Lou Stroble.

County Sanitarian Heads Area Group

County sanitarian S. Ralph Frazier of Clermont County was elected chairman of the Four County Sanitarians Association. William F. Morris, Clermont County food inspector, serves as secretary treasurer, and Don Hartley of the Hamilton city health department is vice chairman. The group studies transporting perishable foods in non refrigerated trucks and plans for the National Association of Sanitarians conference in Cincinnati next year.

Bazaar To Benefit Retarded Children

Withamsville hosts a Christmas bazaar to aid the Retarded Children School. The Parent Teacher Organization sponsors the event on Saturday December 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Fellowship Hall 681 Mt. Moriah Dr. Funds finance basic needs for the children and items include homemade candy pastries crafts toys and items made by the children.

Disbarment Sought in Ohio Lawyer Case

Disbarment proceedings against Thomas S. Ellis were filed in Common Pleas Court by the Clermont County Bar Association stating Ellis misused funds in a client transaction. The charge alleges Ellis gave a check to Joseph A. Wolffram, who kept $50, while Ellis kept the balance and never repaid the sum.
