Three prisoners escaped from Adams county jail in West Union last Thursday night with help from outside confederates. The sheriff found a hole and inwardly pushed bricks in the wall, indicating inside assistance. The escapees were John Gaskins James Smith and William Turtee each facing pending trials for assault horse stealing and railroad obstruction respectively.

Death by Own Action Near Monterey Inquest Rules
John Osborn of Pleasureside Colorado, temporarily demented, killed himself with a rifle near Monterey on November 15 1910. He had been in poor health, visited Hot Springs Arkansas, returned to his sister in Monterey two weeks earlier, and ended his suffering last Tuesday. Coroner Mitchell ruled death by own action while mentally unbalanced. Funeral services were held at Mrs Irene Devine’s home and he was buried in Osborn cemetery.
