Express trains to run over CPV line to New York
Express trains of modern makeup will soon operate daily over the CPV from Cincinnati to New York. One leaves Cincinnati at 8 12 a m via Pennsylvania to Batavia Junction then CPV to Portsmouth and onto lines to Wheeling and Pittsburg. The other arrives in Cincinnati at 7 20 p m running to Portsmouth in three hours and will not stop on CPV except for Portsmouth passengers. This signals possible consolidation of the CPV with other roads. Also note a staged performance of the Old Maids Convention will be repeated Saturday evening Dec 2 with general admission at 10 cents.

Loss by Fire Destroys Tate Township Barn
A large Tate Township barn on the Durham farm west of Bethel near the Ohio pike burned Friday night at about 11 o clock. The blaze consumed hay grain and equipment including two horses a new wagon and farming tools. Losses totaled 800 for contents and 500 for the barn with no insurance. Arson is suspected after a recent barn fire near Bantam.

Captain T Q Ashburn of the 83rd regiment and fifteen men surprised twenty five Filipinos on the Luzon front. They flanked the enemy on retreat, killed ten, and captured the rest near San Jacinto on the 11th. Major John A Logan was killed in that engagement.
