Recounts Fail To Materially Alter Results

The Clermont County board of elections finished a Tuesday recount showing two reelection candidates failed to gain enough votes to overcome defeats. Incumbent Tate Township trustee James Anderson shed three votes in eight of ten precincts. Rich ard S. Winder and Lowell Brooks each lost five votes. Donald Thorpe gained one. John Varney fell behind one in three precincts. Several council candidates lost one vote while Herbert L. Curry gained three votes.

Clermont County Reappoints Mental Retardation Board Members

The Clermont County Commissioners reappointed David Schneider and Don Dragoo to four year terms on the Board of Mental Retardation. Architect Ken Wolven outlined designs for a new school on 8.5 acres of the former County Home Farm, with construction hoped to start in April. Voters approved a $1,025,000 bond issue and an operating levy for the project, while state or federal aid is sought to offset costs. if a grant is received it would reduce the bond by about $500,000.

Clermont County Republican Club Reelects Werner President

The Clermont County Republican Club unanimously reelected J. D. Werner as president for 1970 and rejected Marion Canter Jean Fischer Peggy Pickelheimer and Richard Carson for other officer posts. Installation will be at the GOP Christmas Dinner December 12 at The Frontier near New Richmond.

Bank Camera Aids Search For Lone Gunman

FBI and local authorities continue the hunt for the lone bandit who robbed the Cherry Grove Branch of Clermont National Bank last Thursday at about 2 15 pm. The robber, described as white about 40, five eight and 200 pounds, wore a dark topcoat and used a paper bag to collect money in a quick vault heist. A bank camera photo shows the suspect in action. A customer was inside the bank during the robbery and another arrived as the robber left.

Batavia prepares for the Edwards Discount Mart opening this week. Ray Edwards, a Clermont County businessman, operates stores in Bethel Hillsboro and Greenfield. The new branch on SR 132 near Clough Pike will offer television radios appliances furniture housewares clothing paints and more.

Quail Hunt Leads to Arrests and Closed Season Violations

Fryman and Cecil Fryman both of Ewing Kentucky along with two others faced charges after officials say they took 33 birds in 90 minutes with 10 quail caught by Cecil above the limit. A cameraman recorded the season activity while two hunters posted bonds for hunting rabbits in a closed season.
