Official Count Alters Tally In Township Race

Officials report countywide tallies with one exception in Washington Township where both incumbent trustees fell. Robert Williams and James D Johnston earned 160 and 142 votes while Edwin Maus remains current trustee. Bethel Tate boards schedules a Dec 9 special election to reconsider a five mill levy rejected last week. A three way tie in Neville village council leaves the outcome unresolved with Mattie among the contenders.

Amelia Youth Killed in Clermont County Auto Crash

A 19 year old Amalia resident, Michael J Berwanger of Berry Road Amelia, died when his pickup lost control on Amelia Olive Branch Road overturned and crushed him. State Patrol reported damage to a fence and electric pole before the vehicle struck a tree and overturned. Requiem High Mass was held at St Bernadette Church. Burial in Mt Moriah Cemetery. Survived by parents Alvin and his wife, three brothers Brian Gregory Rodney and a sister Pamela.

Batavia approves police cruiser lease and zoning changes

Batavia Village will lease a police cruiser from Lytle Chevrolet for 187 dollars a month with responsibility for gasoline and liability insurance. Bids from Cann Ford and F and W Leasing were noted. The council granted a zoning variance for Dr. and Mrs. Hahne to operate a chiropractic practice at Griffin property and discussed rezoning plans for a flower shop and a storage rule change for campers. Police are checking the flower shop location near the hill to the high school.

Hamilton Asked To Join Clermont Co In Making Bridge No. 1 Project

Officials from Clermont and Hamilton counties and six municipalities meet over a $2,849,115 state funding allotment. They prioritize a Milford two lane bridge on the Little Miami River as the county bottleneck but do not yet schedule a bridge, calling a broader expansion program necessary and highlighting a deteriorating Loveland structure and the Milford bridge’s urgent repairs.

Senator Dennis to Speak at Republican Club Meeting

The 108th General Assembly topics will be discussed at eight p.m. in the CG&E auditorium Batavia Fourth and Spring Streets. Dennis, former Ohio assistant attorney general and city solicitor, served five Ohio House terms before joining the State Senate in 1963 and was elected in 1964 with a subsequent reelection.

Legionnaires Launch Needy Kids Yule Fund

The Clermont County American Legion sponsors the Needy Kids Christmas Fund with Don Patton as chairman. Volunteers run the campaign across seven posts for countywide gift distribution. Donations of money, toys, or clothing are welcome and early gifts aid child selection and delivery to about seven county sectors.

The East Fork Valley Water Association will hold a public meeting on Nov 20 at 7 30 p.m. at Clermont Northeastern High School to answer questions and accept water user applications for parts of Clermont Brown and Highland counties. Bridge Repair Near Final Stages On US 50

The Stonelick Creek bridge on US 50 may reopen late this week or early next week as contractors estimate completion of repairs after closing the span on Sept. 30. The project affects traffic on the US 50 corridor near Final Street.

Area Soldier Wounded In Vietnam Second Time

Pfc. Thomas L. Burroughs of Clermont County Ohio was seriously wounded in Vietnam on October 25 after earlier injuries on May 8. He was injured by shell fragments while driving an army vehicle and is hospitalized in Yokohama Japan. His condition was listed as critical with burns but improving on Veterans Day and evacuation to the United States was considered in about three weeks. He joined the army in 1968 and arrived overseas January 12.
