Bethel Major Albert Bolsinger 47 of Route 3 Bethel died from injuries after an automobile crash on U. S. 52 near Ripley. Graveside military rites set at Rest Haven Cemetery Norwood. Survived by wife Mary and daughter Elizabeth. Maj Bolsinger served with the 704th Field Artillery Battalion Army Reserve and was returning from Chillicothe on official business. Col Earl Noble was driving and also injured along with Malcolm Conlee and wife Mary.

Four members of a Batavia family were injured when their car collided with Ollie Lykins 59 of Route 3 Bethel. Lykins, jailed for intoxication, had been involved in an earlier highway crash with Kenneth Oden of Cincinnati moments before. Shelly Payton sustained head cuts, Bessie Payton suffered a right arm fracture, Jo Ann Payton had body bruises, and Richard Payton had a head cut.
