Nurse Held to Jury After Death of Boy

In Batavia Ohio 96 year old nurse Ida Gaines is bound over to the Clermont County Grand Jury on manslaughter and improper passing of a school bus charges. Bond is set at 2000 dollars. The incident occurred October 23 near Amelia when Stanley Young eight was killed after alighting from a bus.

Two men injured in crash on Route 28

Report says John L. Campbell 37 of Montgomery is in serious condition at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a Route 28 collision in Mariemont. Details of the other man and exact circumstances are not provided.

Overheated Furnace Destroys Wyatt Home in Milford

Fire caused by an overheated furnace destroyed Isham Wyatts seven room frame dwelling on State Route 131 two miles east of Milford. Mrs Wyatt had lit the fire. John Wyatt was burned while reentering for a wallet. Loss estimated around 15000. neighbors shelter the family.

Three Small Girls Loot Post Office Box Case

In Batavia New York three girls aged 9 10 and 12 confessed to opening the Bell Telephone post office box and taking 20 checks and three money orders. They admitted to Police Chief Ed Colonel and Sheriff Clyde B Dericks and faced a Juvenile Judge hearing. Two checks were altered from 468 to 24.68 and 7 to 17 but neither was cashed.

Mrs. Dean's Murder Trial Delayed to December 8

BATAVIA C Mrs Davie Blanche Dean accused of poisoning her husband Hawkins Dean will face a first degree murder trial December 8. The case was postponed from November 17 after a conference between prosecutor Ray Bradford and the defense. She remains in the county jail after returning from Lima State Hospital where doctors found her sane.

Batavia Soldier Returns to Korea with Unfinished Job

Pfc Edward A. Huxell, of Batavia, an ammunition handler with Battery B, Fifteenth Field Artillery, who has six battle stars, explains he returns to Korea to finish his work. He first served in Korea starting August 1950, later rejoining in March with the Second Division after a mortar blast sent him airborne. His mother, Mrs. Ed Huxell, resides on Williamsburg Pike.

Milford Lieutenant Wounded In Korea

First Lieutenant Raymond Riehle Jr. is at a base hospital in Japan recovering from an arm wound suffered in Korea on October 22. He told his parents by long distance call last week. An artillery officer and Xavier University 1950 graduate, he has served in Korea since January.

Trick Pony Act Heads Batavia Silver Harvest Day Show

Local merchants stage a 9 p m trick pony act by Lee Jones and Little Pal the Wonder Pony at the Batavia courthouse as part of the Silver Harvest Day celebration. Jones also features rope tricks by his young daughter with Judge Orville Halbisch as master of ceremonies. An association spokesman says the show is a bonus feature beyond the weekly cash prize. crowds have grown weekly.

Foundry Blaze Ruins Williamsburg Plant With $50,000 Loss

Fire destroyed the Guarantee Foundry in Williamsburg early Saturday. The building valued at 20 000 dollars belonged to Leslie and Annie Cramer. Foundry operators Kirk and Arthur Crowley put equipment losses at 30 000 dollars. Fire Chief Ernest Wiaks said the alarm rang about 12 30 a m and the roof was ablaze.

Pardee, Boy Arrested In Pre-Dawn Police Hunt
