The long serving Williamsburg wooden bridge on State Route 74 near Ports mouth to Cincinnati cracked under a truck last Monday night. Surveyor Miles Deale and Fred Croswell led an all night team to place temporary supports, with another failure after timber replacement on Thursday night. Traffic was detoured while crews renewed floor timbers and spiked floors, signaling the need for a new bridge as the structure nears 100 feet span and historic service since 1864.
