The grand jury dismissed after a seven day session with no indictments on charges of drinking and immorality at the Girls' Industrial Home in Delaware. Prosecuting Attorney Winston W. A Red Cross membership drive opened Sunday night at Batavia M. E. Church with a large audience. District Sept. George gave an Armistice Day sermon honoring World War boys, Eli Speidel spoke on the war and Red Cross aid, and Mrs. Chas Massey outlined relief efforts. Judges Davies and Nichols spoke. 285 memberships were signed with American Legion and Auxiliary aiding.

Ohio Canners Association to meet in Columbus December 10 and 11 with several hundred attendees expected. Reports indicate a short crop of berries and vegetables for canning though demand remains strong due to high quality Ohio canned foods and rising consumption. Former Clermonter Harry W. Paxton died Friday at his South Charleston home after a heart attack. He was a well known Clarke county attorney and son of the late Thomas Paxton of Loveland, with cousins Thomas B. Paxton of Cincinnati and Elizabeth Paxton of Batavia.

Loveland Boy Dies From House Fire Ordeal
Frank Marston aged 14 son of Rev. Charles Marston of Loveland Ohio died from burns at home after attempting to build a furnace fire. His mother heard him screaming at the church and her clothing caught fire. He died soon after at noon. The body was taken to Maryville Tennessee for burial after funeral services.

Dogs Attack Milner’s Sheep at Wiggensville
Two dogs mauled a Milner flock killing two sheep and wounding six more with badly lacerated throats. Milner heard the sheep bleating at night and investigated, shooting the large yellow dog. a smaller dog escaped.
