Amelia and Batavia high school bands will perform a 60 piece concert with solos by Mrs Imogene Bennett and Mrs Lula Hall. Public invited.
Portsmouth Ohio telegram says Congressman Charles C Kearns will visit next Friday evening to receive an honorary degree from Peerless Camp No 79 United Spanish War Veterans. The camp will honor his service on behalf of soldier legislation and pensions. Ironton and Chillicothe veterans may attend with Ashland Kentucky’s Bob Elam set as master of ceremonies.
Bank robbers drilled two vault doors during a Monday night breakin at Fayetteville but did not reach the safe. They stole about 36 dollars in wickets from a box inside the vault and left 26 pennies. The janitor discovered the theft Tuesday morning and alerted police as bank president Thomas Connoley speculated on two theories for why they fled.
The Miami Grange at Milford will hold a full day session on December 7 starting at 10 AM. Newly elected officers will be installed in the forenoon, Past Masters’ Day celebrated in the afternoon, a basket dinner served, and a short program to follow.
Licenses for 1930 auto plates go on sale Monday December 2 at Loveland Milford Williamsburg Bethel Felicity Goshen New Richmond and Batavia. Purchasers must attach bill of sale or sworn ownership statement and have the owner sign. Cars bought before April 7 1929 must be listed for personal property tax. Owners before December 21 1929 cannot buy 1980 plates without stamped transfer or license issued. An affidavit may accompany prior purchases not used. All cars must display the new plates by January 1 1980.
Warden Preston E. K. Thomas issues orders for a lavish Thanksgiving feast for inmates at the Ohio Penitentiary. The menu includes roast pork with oyster dressing, celery, apple sauce, candied sweets, bread, butter and coffee, followed by pumpkin pie and stogies. The Batavia Garden Club met at Mrs. Jas K Ashburn's home on Monday afternoon November 18. Mrs Wm T Lloyd of Terrace Park Garden Club spoke on Flower Culture and the group valued the session. Awards went to Mrs J K Ashburn for best arrangement and Mrs Monroe Wiseman for best specimens. no December meeting. January plans to be announced.
The Rev Dr Fletcher of Bonebrake Theological Seminary Dayton Ohio will speak at U B church next Sunday morning and evening. Morning offering will aid the seminary. The school of prophets program features a large enrollment of over 110 students. Evening sermon to share an Evangelistic Message.
