State Highway Dept tohold open house at new garage

The State Highway Dept will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its new garage on Rt. 132 just north of Ohio 125. Russell Simmons Clermont County Maintenance Superintendent invites individuals and groups to attend and view the $200 000 building.

Clermont County Tax Rates Rise in Most Districts

Tax rates will increase in 33 districts and decrease in 13 in Clermont County for the coming year. Districts listed include Batavia Batavia School District up 2.69 to 42.94, Northeastern SD up 3.59 to 34.04, Williamsburg SD up 1.69 to 34.74, West Clermont SD up 3.09 to 42.24, Amelia Village up 3.19 to 46.84, and Batavia Village up 2.69 to 42.54 among many others with varied changes across district lines.

CHILD-Bracken Construction Co of Augusta Kentucky was the apparent low bidder at 107001 for public use facilities at Capt Anthony Meldahi locks and dam. Next bid was Walter Construction Co of Cincinnati at 124448. The government estimate stood at 99915. Work on the Ohio side includes landscape planting. Kentucky side covers a concrete access road masonry block rest rooms with septic. News mentions school district tax figures unrelated to the project.

State Auditor Roger Cloud reports Clermont County public school debt totalled 12,973,000 at year end 1964. Exempted village districts New Richmond and Milford owe 5,429,500 of the sum, while local districts account for 7,544,000.

Bob Braun Set to Emcee Williamsburg High School Dance

Flashers Planned at Three Intersections in Clermont County

Russell Simmons of the Ohio Department of Highways said flasher signals will operate this week at two dangerous intersections on State Route 32 in Clermont County. Poles were installed at Aicholtz Road and Old Route 32 crossings, with more work planned before a possible conversion to stop lights after a study. Additional flashers go in at Augusta Street intersection with relocated US 52.

Wheel From Plane Nose Wheel Bounces Under Car

A plane nose wheel bounced under a parked car on Main Street at 3 50 pm Thursday. Frank Redfield of Cincinnati was in the car at 3151 Manning Ave. Redfield turned the wheel over to the police. Federal aviation authorities in Cincinnati reported no plane loss or incident.

East Fork Dam Funds Seen For Summer Action

J. E. Carnahan told the Batavia Business Men's Assn that funds for the East Fork Dam project in Clermont County could allow starting work next fall if Congress appropriation is approved. Juveniles Held In Home Theft

Glen Este Union Township Constable Paul Hermann reported two juveniles aged 13 and 15 confessed to breaking and entering the Timmerman home on Clermont Lane. They were cited to Clermont County Juvenile Court and all but $14 of $102 stolen from a savings bank were recovered, along with a $300 diamond ring, a .38 revolver valued at $57.50, cartridges, and a $165 cameo-diamond ring.
