Soldier Henry S Heil Returns to Army Duties
Pvt Henry S Heil of the Army Medical Corps reports back to duty after a week at home. He spent time with his wife who lived in Abilene Texas while he trained with the 65th Medical Training Battalion at Camp Barkeley. Heil volunteered for service in July 1943 and previously worked for Cincinnati Milling Machine Company. His wife will stay with her parents Mr and Mrs C L Jones of Marathon Ohio.

John J. Horn formerly of Milford Clermont county died at his home in Muncie Indiana on October 30. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev A Wesley Pugh. Interred Elm Ridge Mausoleum Muncie. He leaves widow Lulu Evanshine Horn two brothers George Henry sister Elizabeth Figgins and several nieces and nephews. He taught at Mt Pisgah Clermontville Beechwood and attended Lebanon Normal. He moved to Muncie 1909 to work for Holderfield Supply later becoming manager. Active Mason Modern Woodmen and Shrine member with multiple lodge affiliations.

A jury in the Court of Common Pleas awarded David Ballinger of Goshen $700 plus interest against Donald R. Florea of Milford doing business as Henry Feldman Feed and Poultry Co. The case involved a tractor and equipment bought last May with claimed guaranteed return if unsatisfactory, a claim denied by the defense. Federal offices consolidate at Clermont Public Building
County commissioners arrange for all federal agencies to occupy the Public building in Batavia. Agencies include Batavia post office AAA Farm Program and Farm Security Administration with the Soil Conservation District and County Agricultural Agent staff. The move centralizes services for Clermont farmers and provides a second floor lounge for families.
