Williamsburg Odd Fellows Dedicate New Hall in Spring
The Williamsburg Odd Fellows replace their burned hall with a fine brick building and plan spring dedication services. Grand Lodge officials will attend and assist. The Batavia School Band, 85 members in green and white, performed at the Batavia armory during the County American Legion and Auxiliary installation, drawing applause. The band, under a popular instructor, continues a 70 year tradition in Batavia. The American Legion Drum Core also performed several selections.

Benefit Show At Batavia for Unemployment Fund

Clermont Man Ted Graham Crowned Colored Boxing Champion
Ted Graham of New Richmond won a hard fought bout to become the world’s colored boxing champion at the arena exposing Cuban Jackie Raymond as a strong challenger. Raymond was knocked down multiple times but battled back, while Joe Maringer of Cincinnati refereed the bout as Graham weighed 185 pounds to Raymond’s 172. George Godfrey timely illness did not affect this title contest.

Monroe Township School Board Tie Resolved by Coin Flip
A tie vote on the Monroe township school board ticket was certified to the County Election Board and settled last Saturday night by Rufus Buckler and Carl J. Johnson. They flipped a coin to decide the winner, Buckler taking heads. Both returned to Laurel where the community was holding a four percent raise celebration.

The recount requested by Tom He Castlen of New Richmond in West and Center precincts for clerk race against Fred Buchtman, conducted Saturday night by the County Election Board with both candidates and two witnesses present, left the results tied at one vote each. Castlen posted a $20 check and sought the recount after election night certification in Batavia. the Board will decide by lot next Saturday night in Batavia, the second county tie in November.

Lost Arm in Corn Shredder at Rarden Ohio
Ollie Mustard aged 40 of Duke near Rarden was caught in a corn shredder on his farm Friday at about 65 p.m. His right arm was amputated above the elbow after more than 30 minutes of entrapment.
