Disappearance of Locust Corner Woman Ends Peacefully
Mrs. Homer Smith of Locust Corner vanished after voting on Tuesday of last week and was found Wednesday afternoon at a friend’s home on Mentor Street in Cincinnati. Sheriff Roberts and deputies conducted an all night search but she remained elusive until she reached safety with acquaintances. Four of her children were in school during the disappearance.

Veteran Gene Burnett Dies in Batavia Home
Civil War veteran Gene Henry Burnett died Monday at his Batavia home after a period of poor health. He leaves a son Court, a daughter Mrs. J. B. Miller, and a stepson Elza Wood. Funeral arrangements are with Moore Funeral Home and burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Raid Clears 60 Gallon Still in Wayne Township
Deputy Sheriff A W Meinken led a raid with W F Kain and Fred Croswell capturing a 60 gallon still four barrel mash and two gallons of whiskey on the Xenia road. Owner Edw Graff and operator were taken to Batavia county jail where he pleaded guilty, fined 350 dollars plus costs, and jailed until paid. Graff had recently moved from Cincinnati to Clermont county.

Armistice Day Observances Planned in Batavia and Milford
Armistice Day will be observed in Batavia today with Taps at 11 a.m. or after Henry Burnett's funeral. In Moscow there will be afternoon exercises as the Junior Order of Moscow presents a flag pole and the American Legion posts a flag. The Clermont County Drum Corps will perform, and in the evening the County Drum Corps will play in Milford along with an Armistice Day parade.

Robbery at Cyclone Store in Sardinia nets $600 in goods
Robbers entered the Cyclone Store at Sardinia last Wednesday night and stole about $600 worth of goods using a stolen car. The haul was taken to Williams burg where Dr. Wallace's car was seized, then driven to Kline hill west of Batavia and ditched. Deputies recovered the goods and car and identified them with the Sardinia owner. no suspects yet.

Women gather to can for unemployed aid at Bethel Church
About 25 women met Wednesday and Thursday in the Bethel Christian Church basement to make apple butter for the unemployed. Apples were donated by Gail Hannah and Herman Fagley. They prepared 132 quarts and have canned nearly 400 quarts of peaches tomatoes pear and apple butter. A village church committee oversees the work and will distribute the canned goods to those in special need during winter.

Locust Corner Grange held its regular meeting on November 4 with good attendance. Deputy A W Meinken and Kyle Moyer arrested Frank Buckle at the Batavia town hall with liquor concealed in his auto and jailed him. Next deputies Meinken Kain Moyer and Croswell captured a still at a home near Brazier. Judge White fined Buckle $350 and costs on Monday. he remains in jail.
