At a recent meeting the Ppper Clough Civic Club voted to push for an immediate water rate reduction submitted in a letter to the commissioners. The letter warns overcharges totaling more than 100000 dollars over 13 months and urges action within 10 days to avoid protests.
Richard Sternberg of Ottawa Illinois, a Miami University student long in the health department's speech therapy program, is hired by the county education board to begin work in January. He will assist project head Robert Pardeau on the board's speech therapy program. An examination shows 229 third graders with speech defects and 233 students in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth grades require corrective action.
Three Mt. Carmel women face shoplifting charges by Cal Crim Detective Agency for Thriftway Supermarket. Betty Nelson 35, 4614 Ashton Rd, alleged $1.28 value. Rebecca Ward 51, 4716 Vic Barb Lane, alleged $3.98. Marie Mowery 38, 748 Odin Dr, alleged $2.49. Hearings set in Clermont County Court at 10 a.m.
The Clermont County Association of Township Trustees and Clerks will meet tonight November 17 at 8 p.m. in the county office building large conference room. Harold Bissantz announces the event with Albert E. Hines introducing speaker James Sheehey Buckwheat Taxpayers Association president. Officers will be elected and oyster stew served after.
County sealer H Earl Metzger announced the annual test of large capacity truck scales completed November 7. Ohio Division of Weights and Measures provides the testing unit each year. Of 21 scales tested, 15 were sealed and six were rejected. Inspector Elmo Durbin noted improved scale floors aiding inspections.
A pending meeting of county commissioners and Coroner A A Gruber debated establishing a morgue at the courthouse. Gruber urged buying equipment for temporary preservation of two bodies and an autopsy table. Officials favor a morgue but balk at location with many favoring county buildings and the annex slated for remodeling.
Robert True, Batavia attorney, elected president of the Clermont County Republican Club for the coming year. The annual meeting at the DX Ranch also installed Leonard Bunnell, William Braselton, Mary Meyers, Ralph Hawkins, and Mrs. Paul Green in key posts. Lt. Col. Lewis Bacher spoke on Marine combat in Vietnam. The party won most races, and the club’s Christmas Dinner is set for December 8 with Buddy Ross providing music.

Batavia Council will not join a county housing authority and rejects a plan to endorse a low income housing charter sought by the Community Action Commission. A Democrat Club meeting is set for November 22 in Withamsville at 8 p.m.
The Master Plan proposes new districts anchored to enrollment: 3500 minimum for limited programs and 20000 minimum for comprehensive programs, plus Area Educational Districts serving 35000 to 75000 pupils. It allows exceptions and county consolidations, aims for decentralization in cities, and targets phased implementation by 1969 and full reorganization by 1970.
Amelia Ohio voters face a December 13 special election to renew a $3.50 per $1000 operating levy and an additional $4.50 per $1000 levy. If both fail, the district loses all $8 per $1000 revenue for a year. Clerk Floyd Weaver certified the request. the two levies were paired to secure essential school funding.
Clermont County opens a new facility at 1921 Goshen Pike Mulberry with capacity for 54 patients and plans approved for 54 more beds by the State Health Department.
