Denny Speigel a fourth grade student at Amelia school wins Black Star led national contest for “Typical All American Boy.” He edged two boys from Wisconsin and Utah after a 16 month search that involved 13 photographers and a feature reaching about 22 million readers. Speigel is son of Carl and Mrs. Speigel of Amelia with brother Carl and cousin Joyce Monk.

UT Post Office Promotion Efforts For Union Township
A committee met at the Upper Clough Circle Club to push a new post office serving Union township. William Hovis was chosen chairman and Mrs Roselyn Miller secretary. Civic leaders argued for a township location within five miles of Cincinnati to improve service and reduce confusion from multiple routes. The group plans to seek help from the Regional Postal Office to speed the move and press for house numbering to aid delivery.

Robert McCoy reports to Ted Weaver that by November 1 only 700 services have been connected from meter boxes to homes while 178,850 meters exist. 1,183 permit holders must complete connections by January 15, 1956, the date set to turn on water for public use. Permit holders with installations completed must report to County Sanitary Engineer Carl Rush promptly.

Fire swept the Daisy Mae and Little Abner Cafe on Woodville Pike two miles west of Stonelick Lake near Edenton on Saturday Nov 5. The Model Laundry of Cincinnati showed Time for Living and donated 25 cents per attendee, totaling 21 dollars, to be given to the Women's Club. Kitty Trindle leads the Women's Club with Mae Slone as vice president and Hazel Gabriel recording secretary Ruth Hutchinson financial secretary Ella Brown corresponding secretary Maxine Eveland treasurer and Olive Mosbacker chaplain. Nellie Mattox received a lifetime membership and a desk lamp from Zenas Anstaett. The next meeting is the annual Christmas dinner on Dec 8 with 25 cent gift exchanges. Roy Thompson Clermont superintendent of schools will receive an honor citation for over 25 years of service at the Ohio Association of School Administrators meeting in Columbus.
