Clermont County Liquor Per Capita Falls Behind 71 Counties

Clermont County's per capita liquor sales last year ranked lower than 71 Ohio counties. With two state stores, residents consumed 8.99 dollars worth of hard liquor per person while beer and wine were excluded. Total county sales reached 379,088.66 dollars, and 32 liquor permits operated locally.

Membership Tops 400 In Boosters Club

The Amelia Knothole Booster Club reports membership over 400 and aims to double by spring to fund baseball field rights. A bake sale supported recently with plans for a Christmas fancy work sale. next meeting set for November 17 at 8 pm in the school cafeteria.

Loveland Mutual Building and Loan company purchased 50000 dollars of Loveland school bonds as part of 280000 dollars in bonds sold by the school board for new grade school rooms. Stan Brock notes the firm uses savers’ funds for first mortgage home loans with reserve funds largely invested in government bonds.

Countian To Represent State At 4H Congress

Herbert R. LaForge of Loveland has been chosen as one of two Ohio 4H club advisors to attend the National 4H Club Congress in Chicago. Active since 1946 as a 4H advisor, he leads youth programs and serves at a Loveland Methodist Church class, in Masonic work, and civil defense. The Clermont County 4H Council, organized in 1955 with LaForge as president, credits him with guiding local clubs. The congress runs Nov 29 to Dec 1 in Chicago. Clermont County Commissioners close for Armistice Day on Friday Nov 11.

Post Auxiliary To Observe Birthday Post In Batavia

The Frank W. Weaver Post and Auxiliary of Batavia will celebrate with a 7 p m potluck supper on Saturday November 12 inviting Legion Auxillary family and friends. Entertainment will be provided. Local legal affairs meetings co sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association are planned in Clermont County in November with speakers and public invited. In Batavia Prosecutor Ray Bradford supports Clermont board of education action on the Branch Hill Loveland transfer and a remonstrance with 425 signatures prompted rescission. Goshen Recreation Club Forms To Aid District

The Goshen School District Recreational Club held its first regular meeting on Thursday November 3 at Goshen school with 42 men in attendance. Officers were elected including Lloyd Floyd president Alva Hill vice president Dale McHenry secretary James Brown treasurer Alvin Diehl chairing membership Simmie Alley publicity Ira Sampson program Dan Hiesler activity. Major project is installing lights for the baseball field tennis courts and football field. A constitution was adopted dues set at 1.00 per year. Next meeting scheduled for Thursday December 1 at 8 pm in the Goshen school cafeteria.

Fire destroys Henderson home. Red Cross appeal

The American Red Cross reports the Henderson family home was totally destroyed by fire on November 2. Mr and Mrs Henderson and their 14 year old daughter lost all possessions and ask for furniture and household items. Donors may call Batavia 3-4111.

Clermont County elementary coordinator Kathryn Stagge Marr 37 of Goshen is Ohio’s Teacher of the Year candidate. She has taught 17 years at Goshen Elementary and earned degrees from Miami University and Xavier University with studies at several colleges.

Woman Named OES Grand Matron in Twenty second District

Mrs. George L. Sellars of Milford was appointed deputy grand matron OES for the Twenty second District at the grand chapter meeting in Cleveland. Delegates at the meeting included Mrs. Gene Brown and Mrs. Dorothy M. Schuester. Enrollment of Junior Red Cross members begins now.

In Clermont County three districts approved consolidation by 1705 to 1356, a 46 vote margin. Glen Estett Carmel Amelia and Williamsville Topso merged into one district as opponents failed to block the merger. County races for education boards favored incumbents R G Little and A Ashton, with Harold Nichols winning the state board Sixth District.

Farm Woman Takes Own Life Near Felicity

Mrs Hazel Sanburn, 42, a mother of four, died Friday November 4 at her farm near Felicity from a self inflicted 12 gauge shotgun shot in a pasture. She suffered a nervous condition and illness. Survived by husband Norman and children Howard 22 Phyllis 20 Sharon 12 and Beverly 10. Hayden funeral home handled arrangements.
