Dermont County held its annual Veterans Day Parade in Batavia on Saturday November 11 to mark Armistice Day. Veterans units from Clermont joined high school bands marching units the Sheriff's Posse and local fire departments.

Third Wynn Trial Opens With Seated Jurors

A jury of seven women and five men is seated for Wynn’s third trial. The defendant Jackie Morgan, 25, of Felicity, faces a case where juries at prior trials deadlocked. The judge, Ralph A Hill, presided earlier with Judge Louis J Schwartz at the first two trials.

Witness Testimony Tells of Stabbing at Club

Mrs. Virginia Hazelbaker, principal state witness, testified that Wynn stabbed Morgan Wynn in a club building. She described Wynn standing in the center of the room before he suddenly ran and carried out the attack.

Airport Lights Stolen At Clermont County Airport

Thieves took two blue globe taxiway lights and a green red runway light worth 120 from Clermont County Airport last week. The loss was reported to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday. Officials hope the description will aid recovery and warn that night driving could be affected.

Attorney Heads Cancer Crusade Passes to Volunteers

James G. Nichols announces that Robert A. Linder will lead the local American Cancer Society crusade in Batavia. Linder, a Batavia attorney and Indiana University and University of Cincinnati law graduate, urges volunteers to enroll for the April Crusade. call 732 1454 to sign up.

Batavia Rejects Piggy Back Tax

Batavia Council rejected a proposed five dollar tax on license plates by a three to two vote at the third reading. The body also held a second reading on an outdoor advertising ban except for venture related signs. A measure to merge village clerk and Board of Public Affairs clerk duties was approved and sidewalk surveys were ordered.

Clermont College Senior Day Highlights New Programs

Informal Senior Day at Clermont College will feature group sessions in the morning to guide seniors into areas of interest followed by lunch and one to one counseling. New programs in food service management and hotel motel management join liberal arts business education and more. Financial aid topics and free attendance are offered with contact via school counselor or Clermont College at 732 2990. Midwestern Fidelity Corp and affiliates plan to occupy their new Milford headquarters at 6040 Fidelity Dr on December 15.
