County commissioners advertise for bids to demolish the present Clermont county jail and sheriff's residence. Bids due by 12 noon Friday November 25 for labor materials tools and equipment with a $1000 performance bond.
The Jackson township S. S. Convention will meet Sunday November 20 at 7 oclock pm in the M E church at Marathon. Rev Tumbelson of Maple Grove M E church will speak. No services at Maple Grove that day due to revival at Newtonsville church. Public invited.
John Hayden expresses heartfelt thanks to numerous friends for their earnest support of his candidacy for State Representative and pledges to merit the confidence shown in his behalf.
Sam Ausman of Williamsburg was elected county commissioner on November 8 and sworn in by Judge White on the 15th after posting a $5000 bond. He joins Republicans Ausman and Seyler with Democrat Hutchinson on the board.
Four Granges presented a program in the School Auditorium. The lineup included piano solos by Miss Josephine Henges and Miss Virginia Kain, readings by Oscar Dumford and Miss Betty Shamp, playlets such as How She Managed It and Rocking Chair Blues, musical numbers by Larry and Tommy Jones and the Pomona Grange Chorus, and talks by Miss Viola Miller and Mrs. of China.
Batavia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star elected officers Monday night. Worthy Matron Mabel Miller and Worthy Patron John Fetzer head a roster that includes Daisy Wilson and Louis Bauer as Associate officers, Bertha H. Rush as secretary for her 20th year, Hazel Studer and Mayme Halbisch as conductresses, Mary Homan as treasurer, and Etta Bauer as a trustee.
The Pike Me held an P T A gathering at the school house on November 8. Mrs A S Curnot from Southwest District shared ideas on the Objectives of Parents and Teachers. Arlie Stratton spoke on Happiness in the Home. Mrs Mark Atchley reported on the Ohio Congress of Parents and Teachers convention held in Columbus November 2 3 and 4.
The Olive Branch Ladies Aid sponsors a rummage sale and home bake sale in the church classrooms on Saturday November 19 starting at 10 AM until sold out. Special orders will be taken care of and patronage is appreciated.

Batavia P T A will hold a meeting Thursday at 7 30 in the school auditorium due to prior conflicts. President Mrs Gerald Iles recently back from the convention in Columbus will narrate her trip in story form. Armistice Day is commemorated with a program by Batavia boy and girl scout troops followed by a social under Mrs Walter Abrahams.

Garland G Audier Democrat sheriff of Clermont county announces a 6 pound boy born Sunday at 2 55 am at Samaritan Hospital. The sheriff jokes the newborn will help him campaign in two years.
The Mt Carmel P T A will meet Friday at the school house with Frank B. Hoggatt, superintendent of Clermont county schools, as guest speaker on How Habits are Built. A panel on Better Cooperation for our Children's Sake features Pattison Shor Holly Kline Roslow Clark and others with music and refreshments planned.

Sam Ausman was sworn in Tuesday at Columbus for the short term of Clerk mont county commissioner on the Republican ticket. He defeated Hugh Donovan 7445 to 6412 in the general election and will fill the unexpired term of Frank Willis starting November 15 and begin the two year term January 1.
The county treasurer announced a one day extension of the tax collection to 4 P M Monday November 21 due to the Sunday closing date. About $18000 is due on personal and classified items with over half paid and an expected 95 percent or higher collection.
County Auditor Blythe Jones led Clermont county with 8271 votes in the general election last week. John Hayden followed with 8087, Taft 7547, and Manly Hill 7518, as the top four finishers.
Amelia High School basketball teams pulled off a double victory at Batavia on Wednesday night. Next Friday they host New Richmond High School boys and girls teams, a rivalry likely to draw a capacity crowd.
Batavia Woman's Club will convene November 19 with Mrs. P K Moore as hostess. The session will cover Mexico City with speakers Ruth Rain and Harriet Rea. The meeting is open to all members.
The Prince of Peace Contest at Batavia M E church featured three contestants. Betty Marie Shamp won first prize with Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. Eleanor Dominy placed second with Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. Bruce Paschal presented Now it Must be Told. Judges were Joe Evans Owensburg Carl Siye Amena and Ralph Hulick Batavia. Rev E C Spangler led the event. A similar contest is planned for U B church next Sunday night.
