In Clermont County Ohio approximately 14 600 voters braved cold weather to cast ballots. Unofficial results show Bricker 7476 Sawyer 7187 for governor Taft 7518 Bulkley 6577 for U S senator Martin 6283 Hughes 6459 for state senator Smith 7022 Polk 6869 for congressman Jones 8287 Smith 5585 for county offices Hill 7585 Abbott 6745 Ausman 7444 Donovan 6393 for auditor and commissioner. Batavia schools levy passed 82 to 275 and Batavia local option vote net 493 to 162.

Amelia Woman's Club Meeting Highlights 1938 Program

The Amelia Woman's Club met with Mrs Gladys Myrick on Saturday. Program included Peace Day, memoirs about war, 1938 political highlights, West Point, Mrs Charles Klausing, a vocal solo by Jack Smith, and Disarmament with Rev Stevenson. The club voted $5 for the Red Cross drive and welcomed Mrs Rey as a member. Mrs Pommert reported progress on selling goods from the blind. Refreshments were served by the hostesses.

Amelia High Opens 1938 Basketball Season With Double Win

Amelia High School began its 1938 season last Friday with a double victory over Felicity on the Amelia floor. The girls won 26 to 10, remaining undefeated, while the boys fought a close game, ending 16 to 14 as Amelia pulled ahead in the final minute. Amelia next hosts Batavia on Wednesday night, November 9.

The Johnsons near Marathon, headed by Homer and Mrs. Johnson, are Clermont County’s largest family with 4 boys and 11 girls.
