Time Limit for Filing Campaign Expenses Set

November 18 is the deadline for candidates in the November election to file expense statements sworn before a notary public. Failure to file will lead to certification to the secretary of State under the corrupt practice act. No certificate of election issued until statements are filed and a $6 deposit for State commissions.

Mt Carmel PTA Meets Friday With Thanksgiving Program

The Mt Carmel Parent Teacher Association holds its regular meeting at the school on Friday evening November 18 at 7 30. The 6th and 6th grades prepared a play and songs for Thanksgiving. Evelyn Patterson and Merrill Pattison will sing. Following the program lunch will be served. Fathers and sons are especially invited.

Fire destroys Afton man’s home and injures him

The home of Harry Lenkheit in Afton burned Sunday morning due to a defective flue. Lenkheit awoke and escaped through a window, breaking his ankle. Dr Colburn was summoned and he was taken to the hospital. No insurance.

Fire Destroys Withamsville House and Store

A five thousand dollar blaze Friday morning consumed the old Pete Jones house at Withamsville, owned by Ed Jones of Norwood, and the Shelton store building. With no fire engine available, residents watched the fire engulf the properties as part of the structures burned. The property included American Field and Poultry Fence, Banner, Steel Fence Posts, and Barbed Wire. Fuhr's Hardware, Wikliamabur (Williamabur) advertises price reductions.

Caesar Township Schools Closed Over Funding Gap

Caesar township schools in Xenia Ohio were closed Friday before last due to funding shortages affecting 90 pupils at a consolidated grade school and 80 students who rode daily to Xenia High School. Local officials stated the shutdown will pause classes until funds are secured.

Attorney Jas W Walker of Batavia relocates to the Hamilton Building occupying offices beside Britton and Britton. The move completes occupancy of the building apartments. Walker formerly practiced with Bishop and Son law offices.

Democrats Break Ice in Warren County Elections

In Warren County Ohio two Democrats won offices for the first time in generations. John S. Van Horne defeated incumbent P. O. Montfort for County Surveyor by about 450 votes. Keller Hoak won the County Commissioner race over E. J. Beedle. James Brown noted as part of the report from St. Louis, returning home from vacation.

Jail Escape From Clermont County Jail Batavia

Two prisoners Lloyd Church and Monon Cherry escaped from Clermont county jail in Batavia about 3 a m Sunday by sawing window bars with a small hacksaw. They had been arrested Oct 14 for operating a fence business in East Milford and were bound over to the grand jury. Authorities learned of their departure Sunday morning and no trace has been found.
