Batavia Shoe Plant Talks Move Forward With Pledge

Sullivan Shoe Company and Batavia citizens led by P F Jamieson advance negotiations for a Batavia factory. A $15 000 building project is proposed with rent free use for the company and initial pledges exceed $3000. The plan seeks to hire 100 to 175 local workers and two land options are being considered.

Couple fined in whisky selling case

Frank Fisher and his wife of Deerfield Road were arrested by Federal officers and brought before Judge White on whisky selling charges. They pleaded guilty and were fined 100 each plus costs, which were paid.

Official county tabulation confirms Blythe Jones Republican as auditor with a 31 vote edge over Democrat Jeff Davis after correcting errors in the earlier count.
