Court House Approval in Clermont County Looms

Clermont county eyes a new court house after state and federal officials approved architect plans. Financing calls for $25,000 from the county toward a $75,000 building cost, with the rest covered by the federal government. heating not included. Officials in Columbus and Washington must approve, with Senator-elect Harold Nichols and Representative-elect John Hayden to represent the county. Also, Columbus ministers will hold monthly services at the state penitentiary chapel, Rev. T. T. Wiley set to speak December 9.

Carnival A Success At Batavia Armory Charity Event

The Carnival held by Mrs Chas G White's M E Church circle at the Batavia Armory drew a large crowd Saturday. Close to $60 in receipts, a doll and quilt show, a pet parade, and an old fashion gown review highlighted the evening. Quilts dating to 110 years were shown by Amelia and Stonelick residents, with many prize ribbons awarded to young attendees and exhibitors.

Batavia Farm Bureau Elects Carter to Lead County Body

Carter Edward Knauer of Hill Crest Orchards north of Perintown was unanimously re elected president of Clermont County Farm Bureau at Batavia U B Church. R F Turner and W L Cowdrey were re elected as vice president and secretary treasurer. Several women directors were chosen from five hundred candidates. The meeting outlined policy support for continued tax and economic measures and local government reforms.

Beekeepers of Clermont County Organize Local Group

The Beekeepers of Clermont County formed an association last Friday evening with Herman Fagley as president, E Miller as vice president, and Walter Saile serving as secretary-treasurer. The next meeting is set for Batavia courthouse on Wednesday December 5 at 8 PM.

The Feast of the Seven Tables is set for Thursday night November 22 at the Taylor M E Church Batavia. A program will present the feast followed by a supper priced at 85 cents. Proceeds aid a good cause and the public is invited.

Prince of Peace Declamation Winners Named at Batavia M E Church

Four contestants took part with one withdrawal in the Prince of Peace Declamation Contest at the Batavia M E Church Sunday night. Audrey Kolly of Mt Carmel won first place while Francis Budd of Batavia took second. Judges were Mrs. D K McDonald Hugh C Nichols and P F Jamieson. Audrey Holly of Mt Carmel earned local honors in the same event. Sub jects focused on continued peace and further elimination contests offer a college tuition prize.

Newport man dies after accidental gunshot near Pt Pleasant

Joseph W. Glascock of Newport Kentucky accidentally shot himself while visiting a farm near Pt Pleasant for a hunt. His son Alva Mead found him and medical aid was sought at Meade hospital and later Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati where he died. Glascock was a prominent Cincinnati businessman. The lung was perforated, ribs broken and heart torn by the shot. He was alone when shot.

Batavia Teams Open 1934-35 Season At Armory

Batavia High School boys and girls opened their 1934-35 campaigns Friday night at the Armory against Williamsburg. The boys fell 32 to 17 while the girls won 17 to 12. Hance led Williamsburg as top scorer. Batavia players Habn and others kept the game close in the second half. Next Tuesday Batavia hosts Bethel with the girls starting at 7:30.

Silver Wedding Celebration in West Batavia

A surprise party marked the Silver Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Moyer at their West Batavia home on Sunday afternoon. Coon Hound Field Trial At Trotter’s Country Club

West Union Ohio November 17 Many Clermont county sportsmen will gather at Trotter's Country Club one mile south of West Union on Route 247 for the annual Coon Hound Field Trial.
