Ohio hunting season opens for various game with dates

The notice lists start and end dates for hunting different species in Ohio. Rabbits and foxes run until January 1, raccoon until January 15, opossum and skunk until February 1. Hungarian partridge and ring-necked pheasants end November 25. Rabbits, foxes end January 1. ducks kill until December 8 on Thurs Fri Sat. woodcock runs to Navy 14th. The recent election results leave the judiciary division with 88 Republican presiding judges and 14 Democratic presiding judges. The shift signals a strong GOP majority in administrative court roles and a narrower Democratic presence.

Absent and Disabled Voters Furnish Ballots for Election

Absent and disabled voters were accommodated at the November election up to Sunday night, totaling about 300 ballots. Mail ballots cost 24 cents for postage and registration, while in-office voting costs nothing. Disabled ballots were issued 16 days before the election and absent voter ballots 30 days prior. some ballots arrived by air mail.

Annual Clermont Farm Bureau Meeting Set at Batavia

The Clermont County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting next Wednesday November 14 at the United Brethren Church Batavia starting at 10 oclock. Ed Bath famed for Farmers Rights and Air Reviews will be principal speaker drawing a large turnout. President E L Carter invites all who support the organization to attend. Republicans Elect Three Democrats Six In County

Unofficial count shows Clarence J Brown carried Clermont County by 1600 votes but GOP gains were small. Ezra Seyler led the ticket with 7143 votes, Hayden 676, Blythe Jones ahead of Jeff Davis by 12, and Fomorin narrowly ahead of Anstaett. Democrats maintained six of eight re-elected offices, including Fitzpatrick Hodges Auxier Roberts White.

County Road Levy Defeated in Compact Margin

The County Two Mill road levy failed by a large margin with 3692 for and 5795 against. Clermont County also rejected two constitutional amendments though by narrow margins. Article 8 Section A vote was Yes 4461 No 4584 and Section B Yes 4169 No 4391.

Polk Reelected in Sixth Ohio District Race

James G. Polk of Hillsboro, incumbent congressman from Ohio Sixth District, is re-elected. He defeated Albert Daniels of Greenfield. Polk won Clermont County by 46 votes 6787 to 6741, carried Scio to the county by about 1000 votes, lost Highland but polled well in Brown County.

Miss Minnie Darnell of Moscow, a county relief headquarters employee, escaped serious harm when the small coupe she rode in overturned on Back Run road near the Red Bridge. She was pinned beneath the car but suffered only minor cuts and bruises as the vehicle was nearly demolished.

Oldest Soldier William Henry Moyer Dies Near Williamsburg

William Henry Moyer of near Williamsburg dies after a long illness. He celebrated his 10 birthday September 23 and spent most of his life in Clermont, farming and raising a family all of whom have passed. He was born in Brown County and spent years in a wheelchair. Dr. W. E. Thompson, 99, his boyhood friend, attended. Moyer was buried from Clover M E Church last Saturday.

New Corn Hog Program Planned After Referendum

After a 69 percent approval in the 1935 corn hog referendum, the Agricultural Adjustment Administration announced a new program to be offered to farmers soon. Delegates from 18 states work on next season’s contract as 345,310 voted in favor and 153,181 against. Clinton County signs show local support with 15,988 to 11,322 in favor for 1935. Officials expect November disclosures and a year end contract presentation. H A Donohoe of Blanchester notes the plan aims to curb excessive corn acreage and hog numbers amid high feed costs. Without action, a return to 1932-33 averages could yield 350 million extra bushels beyond needs.
