Batavia Beats Felicity in Season Opener

Batavia High School basketball opened with a 63 to 28 win over Felicity. Richard Wuerdeman led Batavia with 17 points, Don Jacobs added 16, while Felicity’s Day led their scoring with 7. Batavia reserves won 36 to 15. Next game is November 14 at New Richmond.

Clermont County Basketball League opens 1947-48 with Mt Orab defeat

The Mt Orab and Felicity Merchants opened the 1947-48 Clermont County Basketball League with a Sunday game at Mt Orab where Felicity edged Mt Orab 61 to 59. Upcoming: New Richmond Legion at Williamsburg and Owensville on Thursday November 13.

The Clermont Courier subscription contest ends Monday after a month. The 6th grade at Amelia School led by teacher Stanley Anstedt won the top prize of 100 dollars plus liberal commissions. Other winners will be notified once all returns are tallied.

Three Clermont County artists will be included in the annual regional Exhibition of the Artists of Cincinnati and Vicinity at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Wagers case dismissed. DeBruler gets deferred sentence

Dudley Wagers faced a Common Pleas Court judge on moving mortgaged property between states and had the case dismissed. Howard DeBruler received a deferred sentence after changing his plea to guilty on an assault charge. A new trial motion was filed for Alexander Sizemore, who was on trial Monday. Two men, James Blanton and Robert Gordon, are to be taken to the State Penitentiary Thursday from Clermont County jail for motor vehicle taking and theft charges respectively.
