Incumbents fared poorly as trustees fell in Union and Batavia townships and Batavia Clerk seat changed hands. Clermont County Library Board will decide next week whether to attempt another tax levy. The one-mill levy failed 19,692 to 13,373 with 59.5 percent voting no. The five year levy would fund building remodeling and equipment for 10 branch libraries.

Batavia resident Jo Kemp reports L. Remley Jr. is the first applicant to fill the vacancy caused by Sue J. Fisher’s death in the 66th District. Clermont County GOP chairman John Born says Remley, based in Batavia with Remley Consulting Service, is the only known applicant so far and that talks with prospective candidates will continue with a recommendation expected to the House caucus by late November.
