Auditor Arnold Stumpf and Elmo Durbin attended the 43rd annual Ohio Sealers Association conference in Toledo held Tuesday to Thursday at the Commodore Perry Hotel. Mrs Stumpf and Mrs Durbin accompanied their husbands and the group enjoyed a dinner wig and fashion show and a visit to the art museum.

Batavia Mourns Clarence Ogletree Hero of Civic Youth

Clarence Ogletree 59 fatally stricken by a heart attack Monday. He guided Batavia High athletic programs for years, helped build a county baseball field, and supported youth sports. Extension granted for briefs on Beckford Power Plant annexation

Clermont County commissioners extended the briefing deadline to November 21 for New Richmond, Pierce Township, and other objectors in the Beckford Power Plant annexation litigation. New Richmond seeks to push the municipal line downstream to gain the CG&E plant and its tax asset, while a compromise is under study to keep current plant units with the township and extend the village boundary to include a unit under re construction.

Old Bethel Church Site Meeting Noted in Clermont History

Members of The Little Miami and East Fork Rivers Citizens Historical Society plan a November 12 gathering at 2 p.m. at Old Bethel Church one mile from Bantam on Elklick Road. Rev. John Collins founded the church in 1805 and it remains active as Clermont’s oldest church. The program features Albert Bitters on early pioneer churches Grace Hirschauer Jersey Settlement notes and Batavia Postmaster Hill notes Veterans Day postal closings.
