Fire Fighters Improve With Training

Mutual aid between Newtonsville and Fayetteville fire departments speeds response and includes a ready ambulance. The Fayetteville VFW funded an ambulance to transport injured to hospitals, now handling auto wrecks and medical calls, with three to four weekly dispatches and faster hospital delivery time.

Editorial lauds Clermont County Republicans for strong turnout and united effort under an executive committee led by Harry Kahle. Cadet Cecil D Wallace Jr Completes Carrier Qualifications

Naval Reserve cadet Cecil D Wallace Jr of Amelia Ohio recently completed carrier qualification aboard the USS Wright in the Gulf of Mexico by taking off and landing his SNJ Texan trainer six times. A College of Engineering student at the University of Cincinnati he entered the Navy in 1949 and trained at Pensacola before advancing to NAS Corpus Christi for a four month combat aircraft syllabus. Graduation will earn him the Navy wings of gold.

Cars Crash Through Windows In Bethel

Two cars collided on Bethel Street and crashed into Bethel Food Market and Ben Franklin Store causing extensive damage. Property owned by Mrs. Earl Eastwood and Mrs. Winifred Davis estimated at 3000 dollars or more. Drivers were Harry Stroup and Earl Swope. Stroup suffered a broken collarbone.

New Richmond Battles Two-Way Radio System Upgrade

New Richmond police cruisers receive a two way radio system funded by contributions totaling 2100 dollars from individuals and firms led by Chief Fred Holt. James Johnson is named dispatcher as Holt completes a London Ohio training course in fingerprinting and identification.

Local election results show incumbents and gains nationwide

Auditor John Hayden won re election with 8551 votes to 6568 for Lee Hannah. Judge Harry Britton was returned unopposed with 10594 votes. County Commissioner Manly Hill won re election 8188 to 6785. Frank Lausche elected governor defeating Don Ebright. Republicans won 12 of 23 congress seats as overall voting set a non presidential record. Clermont County returns pending except Bethel where hydrant, school levies and 330000 school bond passed.

Twins Arrested on Separate Charges in New Richmond

Floyd and Lloyd Harris, 34, twins from Cincinnati, are to appear before Mayor Russell Flynn in New Richmond on separate charges. They were arrested by State Patrolman W. E. Lewis near New Richmond over the weekend.

Firemen Stage Ball to Raise Funds for Equipment

The Batavia Armory hosts a Firemen's Ball on November 22 to raise funds for new equipment. Volunteers recently received rubber coats and hip boots, and Jacob Laffleur serves as chief.

The Courier seeks vintage photographs of notable Clermont County people and places for publication in Harry Halbish’s Seequi Centennal History of Clermont County. The book will be printed in December.

Marathon Grange to Elect Officers

Marathon Grange will elect officers at the Thursday evening meeting on November 9. The session is set to begin at 8 p m. During basketball season the Grange plans to meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
