Citizens of Batavia and vicinity plan Armistice Day services with the Frank W. Weav er Post in charge. Events begin at 10:16 AM Sunday in the M E Church with orchestra, invocation, readings, choir, and remarks by Judge Nichols. Boy Scouts will decorate homes and shops. all are invited to attend.
The Burley Tobacco Growers' Co operative Association will be ready to receive the 1923 crop by opening of tobacco season. Ralph M Barker heads Lexington warehouse department and plans to pen receiving plants in Missouri Ohio Tennessee and Virginia. Barker spoke in Illinois to organize wheat growers as patrols and officials across Kentucky Indiana and Kentucky. Government figures show a big rise in the 1928 crop yield, with expectations the 1928 yield will be similar to 1922 in weight.
Notice to Bata Township teachers who dismissed on Columbus Day requires teaching on Friday after Thanksgiving or have one day’s salary deducted. By order of Board.
George A. Minning appointed assistant principal at High St School Barberton and special instructor at Snidertown and night school. Born and educated in Clermont county, he earns local pride for his teaching work. An entertainment and social is planned at Summit school house on Batordey evening November 10 hosted by teacher Marjorie Halbisch.
Secretary of State Thad H. Brown appoints P. M. Rapp as deputy registrar of automobiles in Batavia Clermont County under House Bill 158 the Knapp act. The law requires bonds records and monthly mailings, aims to place license tag duties with financially responsible county agencies and enhance tag handling nationwide.
The Clermont County Federation of Farm Women's Clubs met October 27 1928 at Grange Hall Bethel Ohio for an all day session. Officers elected for the year were President Allie Rowan East Fork Progressive vice president Mabel Wacker Deerfield secretary Maud Dean Profit and Pleasure treasurer Della Herboldt Sunbeam. An afternoon program included music readings and recitations and Mrs Krach spoke on Women in Politics after which attendees adjourned thanking Bethel for hosting.

The will of John A. Vail of Tate township dated May 381 1919 directs payment of debts and funeral expenses and leaves the residue to his four children Willard Nora Daisy and Louis K. Vail with Louis named executor. The Hamlet resident George Hoffman wills debts and funeral expenses paid and the residue to his wife Anna for life, then to his six children including Christian Mayme Agnes Barbara John and Mayme. Christian receives no more than one dollar due to prior advances. Codicil dated December 29 1919 revokes Walter McDonough as administrator and substitutes Christian Hoffman, witnessed by George W Wolf Edwin C Ely and others.
Real estate transfers list Antonio Greco et al transferring 27 acres in Union Township and other parcels including 80 acres in Goshen and 88 acres in Goshen by administrator. $1 to many parties. Thirteen mortgages filed totaling $14,800 and twelve cancelled releasing $28,841.85. Batavia notices a local clothes cleaning business run by Lawrence Powell, with steam presses and quick service, serving the county.
Louis Buerkle and Frank Knaver added a large side window to their home increasing value. The new window offers a fine street view and significantly improved interior light.
Voters turnout was steady with Taft law and Albaugh law defeated. old age pension and workmen's compensation narrowly split. White male and publicity amendments showed mixed support. Milford-H H Hill won Batavia mayor 2 to 1. Batavia elected officers including Larkin Rush and several trustees and clerks. Batavia school boards named Ungelhaem Malott Speidel Parrott.
The Broadway Club hosted a progressive party Tuesday evening with seven course dinner and card games from 5 30 to 11 30. Members wore grotesque costumes and the group visited six homes, ending at Mrs Bishop where coffee doughnuts and candy favors were served. Guest of honor was Mrs Helen McTomany of Louisville Kentucky.
Batavians and every town in the county celebrated Hallowe'en with masked revelry on Tuesday evening. The Batavia Rebekahs hosted a mask party featuring an old-fashioned rural school entertainment and a pleasant lunch after the program.
At a sharp bend just below Batavia on the Stonelick pike three Cincinnati visitors Emmett Bowman H J Bolt and another passenger were injured when their high powered car failed to negotiate the curve. They were treated by Dr Rapp Owensville and returned to the city as the car awaited repairs in Batavia. Don’t speed.
The Georgetown fire that destroyed the Theis and Berz buildings along the Public Square will cost about 3000 dollars to settle from the town treasury under emergency bonds. Mayor Roberson received a 1750 dollar bill for Cincinnati fire apparatus and a 200 dollar bill from Ripley, plus 300 dollars for 800 feet of new hose and incidental costs, totaling the stated amount.
Governor Donahey appoints Judge Hugh L. Nichols of Bata via as a delegate to the national convention of the Anti-Saloon League of America in Birmingham Alabama from December 17 to 20. He will join about fifty members named by governors.

A civil service examination is scheduled to appoint the Goshen postmaster. The test date is November 24 and will be conducted at Blanchester.
Brown county public schools receive high regard as E V Stephan is unanimously elected President of the Southwestern Ohio Teachers Association in Cincinnati on October 27 1928. Stephan succeeds Randall J Condon of Cincinnati schools as chairman of a major educator organization, having served on the executive committee for three years.
Oscar Glancy the pike contractor broke his ankle last week while at work riding the running board of an auto he struck a rock pile. He was taken to his home in Afton for recovery.
