Memorial Service For Rev Burdsall At M E Church
Memorial services were held Sunday night at the M E church with a large audience. Rev Bon ham delivered the sermon. Rev Burdsall died in prayer after scripture reading and singing by the congregation. An orchestra played with Mrs Judd on the organ. 82 soldiers from Civil Span American World War and National Guards attended. The band escorted the soldiers from the armory to the church. Union meetings will be held on the church lawn during the summer.

The term of the Clerk of the Courts elected in November will be extended to three years and five months. Previously the term ran from August to the following August. Albert L Seyler a longtime East Fork farmer near Batavia died Tuesday night after a brief illness. Survived by wife daughter mother and three brothers, funeral was held Friday with burial in Union cemetery. Cause of death acute yellow atrophy.

Man Slaughter Verdict In Doss Case At Brown County Court
Frank Doss of Blanchester faced a Brown County jury and was found guilty of manslaughter after a four day trial for the March 29 fatal stabbing of Charles Pierre near St. Martins. The panel of 46 names produced 32 witnesses with the verdict returned Thursday afternoon. Doss may seek a new trial by Monday while 18 prisoners remain in Georgetown jail.

Pike Work Improves Batavia Hamlet Pike and Mt Carmel Route
The State Highway Department lays two feet of gravel on both sides of the Batavia to Hamlet pike to widen and improve it. The Mt Carmel to Tabascco pike has been resurfaced improving access between Batavia and the Grant Highway. The 4 H Nimble Thimble Club of Batavia met at Mrs. L C Hulick's, adopted a constitution, and grew to 2 percent membership, the largest yet, with plans to join county fair prizes and a June 7 meeting at 1 0 o'clock.
