FHA Approves Start On Water System At Bethel

The Tate Monroe Water System wins federal approval for a 3.5 million loan from the Federal Housing Administration to start construction east of Bethel on SR 125. Work includes a 14 inch transmission line Bethel to New Richmond, using 50 to 60 workers with 15 to 20 locals, and hydrant ordering running through May 31 at 250 dollars each.

Bowling banquet marks end of Clermont special classes season

Almost 30 elated students from Clermont County Special Classes were guests of King Pin Lanes for a luncheon in the Amber Room. Marianne Mullen and Juanita Smith organized the season at the lanes with support from John Mackey and Mrs. Sheddy Hondorf among attending officials.

Tank Truck Testing Set in Clermont County

Clermont County Auditor Arnold Stumpf announced the state meter testing unit will visit June 9 through 17. Elmo Durbin, inspector, said truck owners will be contacted with the testing schedule. Each truck must carry at least 135 gallons of fuel. testing occurs at the County Garage on St. Rt. 132. The Ohio Dept. of Agriculture tested 82 meters in the county last year.

Mosbacker Graduates From West Point

Cadet Rodney E. Mosbacker son of Mr and Mrs Homer H Mosbacker of Batavia graduates from the U S Military Academy at West Point on Wednesday June 4 receiving a bachelor of science degree. General Westmoreland will speak at the ceremony. Mosbacker was appointed by Rep William H Harsha and is a Batavia High School 1965 graduate. He served as First Sergeant in the Infantry and belonged to the Fine Arts Forum Affairs Club Scoutmasters Council and Portuguese Language Club while at West Point.

Batavia Township Zoning Commission heard changes for a 129.5 acre tract along SR 132 and SR 222. No formal protests or major objections were raised. the commission took no action at the public hearing last week in Batavia Ohio.

County officials report a single bid for Bullskin Creek bridge reconstruction at Chile came in under the engineer’s estimate, with Champion Bridge Co. offering 32557 dollars against a 36000 dollar projection. Construction will include new piers and abutments as the bridge is raised from the creek.

The Budget Commission Arnold Stumpf Byron Ross and Robert A Jones cut 12510 from the 1970 County Board of Health budget reducing the request from 1416m to 102206 Operating expenses dropped 18180 to 14880 and contingencies from 4500 to 2980 Salaries were trimmed from 83000 to 76000 after raises and returned funds to townships and villages due to loss of sanitarians and the full time health commissioner.
