Dinner To Honor County Scholars Dinner

The third annual scholarship dinner will be held at the D X Ranch on Thursday evening May 28 at 6 p.m. The Clermont County PTA Council sponsors the event financed by local PTAs. Honored guests include top eighth grade student in the state test, ten county top finishers, valedictorians from each high school, county winners in Ohio history government and citizenship, seniors in the top 25 percent of the general scholarship test, all high school students who placed in Miami University tests, and each school’s DAR winner.

Kroger Plans Milford Move to East Milford Center

Kroger Co announced negotiations with East Milford Shopping Center promoters to occupy a large building and parking lot in the center. The Milford store will relocate from Route 28 as business has outgrown the current site. Occupancy date is uncertain while drainage work and site improvements proceed at the open air theater site in Columbus.

Services Monday For Founder of Athletic Club

G. Leslie Franke 57, Milford Councilman and founder of the Milford Athletic Club, died May 22 at 817 Goshen Pike. He worked for Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co until illness forced retirement. Widow Rachel Robson Franke is a part time Clermont County welfare worker. Services were held at Craver funeral home Monday with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery Milford.

Judge Rosenhoffer Refuses To Be Intimidated In Sentencing

Judge Chris Rosenhoffer faced pressure from an alleged friend of a man arrested in surprise Sunday raids by State Liquor Control Board agents. He refused to reduce fines for Robert L. Ramsey of Club Haven Amelia, insisting law applies to all. Ramsey and two others Elmer A. Martin of Lakeview Tavern and Robert A. Mason of Jackson's Lake Tavern were released on bond and schedule trials for Friday.

Services were held Wednesday at the Craver Funeral Home for Richard E. Hanna who died by suicide at his Milford home after poor health. He is survived by his widow Esther, two daughters Nancy Lee and Susan Michele, and a son Richard Jr.

Countians Demonstrate Mass Feeding Skill In Disaster Drill

Fifteen Clermont County residents built an emergency field kitchen at the Batavia American Legion and served a seven layer casserole dinner to about 100 people, proving readiness for mass feeding in emergencies. The exercise followed Red Cross Emergency Mass Feeding Course training led by Janet Bryan and Argella Rober.

Northwest Clermont group moves to sue over MGS Water System

North west Clermont County Civic Association elected new officers on Monday with Jerry Crain as president to hire counsel and push county commissioners to activate the Miami Goshen Stone lick Water System. Crain said a committee will investigate citizens rights and contracts as possible customers.
