Public education in Clermont County shows 1958 expenditures of 6 442 256 22 with salaries 2 955 787 14 and receipts totaling 6 131 931 74. Local property taxes provided 2 240 079 40, lunch room income 348 374 36, state funds 111 026 03, federal funds 79 380 48, and bond and loan proceeds 828 541 25. Outstanding debt Dec 31 1958 was 6 067 500.

Wilmington College hosted Hlumination Night and Recognition Day with Clermont County representation. Homer Ernst a 63 year old former Milford justice of the peace faced an embezzlement charge. Judge Darrell W. Hottle excused the jury and dismissed the indictment after prosecutors finished presenting evidence.

Chief Ray Riggs of the North Union Township Fire Department renews invitation to a public fire fighting demonstration from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday May 24 at Viking Village Mt. Carmel Tobasco Rd. Council Reaches Dump Agreement in Clermont County

The Clermont County council approves a week to week lease of the Batavia dump site to Edmund Parrott and Anne Hensley for 100 per week. Russell Wuerdeman will receive all excess revenue from haulers. The village retains control while pursuing permanent disposal facilities per Engineer Carl Rush recommendations.

Democrat Leader Named In $50,000 Alienation Suit

Clermont County Democrat chairman Charles Bud Colonel, 42, was named in a $50,000 alienation of affections suit filed by Robert H. Pickelheimer of Batavia. Pickelheimer also seeks divorce on neglect and custody of two children. Colonel denies wrongdoing and cites wife Judith Ann Pickelheimer worked for the Elections Board and that their separation preceded his interactions.
