Dog Quarantine Lifted In Clermont County

Clermont County District Board of Health lifts the dog quarantine effective immediately as emergency ends. Twenty nine proven dog raids this year, with no cases in ten days. Public urged to avoid adopting stray dogs from other communities and to closely watch prized dogs.

The Batavia Singer Knots met May 2 at Mrs Battles home at 8 p m with discussion of projects led by Betty Pringle. The Nifty Stitch Clothing Club met May 20 at Monterey school. officers were installed by Catherine Myers with 12 members present.

Clermont County Route 74 Contract Awarded to Frowine

The Ohio Highway Department awards contract for 2.777 mile Batavia Winchester road on State Route 74 in Clermont County to Frowine Construction Corp Portsmouth Ohio for 139 448 with an engineer’s estimate of 140 860. Work includes grading drainage structures widening and paving with bituminous mix and a completion date of October 31 1941.

Hess Seen With Hitler and Goering in Berlin Before War

Courier correspondent Baukhage reports in Washington Digest that in Berlin before the current war an observer saw Adolf Hitler Hermann Goering and Rudolf Hess at a famous meeting. Hess was described as third in command behind Hitler and Goering.

Courthouse Extends Holiday Closure Through Weekend

A courthouse announces closure end of business Thursday with reopening Monday morning at the usual time. An extra half day holiday extends to accommodate those traveling so they need not rush back for a partial day.

Field Day Demonstration Of New Auto Baler

Farmers near Batavia will view the motor mounted baler at the J. B. Lytle and Son farm three miles south of Batavia on Monday June 2. The device, built by Albert Anstaett and Son of Batavia, blocks bales as it forms them and air conditions the hay producing an air conditioned green hay. Jose R. Fisher of Williamsburg is the recipient of the baler. Weather permitting the event will be open for all to see in operation.

Batavia Bobcats rebound from two losses to beat Madisonville Lions 9 to 8 on Sunday. Retzler of Willowville pitched well. he walked one and kept batters off balance. Champ Anstaett led with 3 of 4 hits as Batavia fielded a revised lineup and prepared for the eastern division of the AIA knothole league.

Military Equipment Set for Miami Valley Exposition

Heavy and light mechanized units from Fort Knox will appear alongside Wright Field displays at Music Hall. Tanks trucks a mobile kitchen armed motorcycles and artillery will be shown on the Music Hall plaza. Wright Field plans a North Wings exhibit including model planes para craft parts and equipment. The exhibit runs May 28 through June 8 with Decoration Day weekend.

County archives to publish 300 page history book

A four year WPA driven project in Clermont County yields a 300 plus page inventory to be issued as a free mimeographed history for public schools and officials. The project includes a complete roster of officials since founding and a thorough bibliography.

Amelia Baptist Church Hosts Miss Ruth Beckett and Eliher Hockstok

The Amelia Baptist church witnessed the wedding of Ruth Beckett and Eliher Hockstok on Saturday May 10. The ceremony featured a ring rite led by Rev. George Reed with music by Thomas Dimiing and Mrs. George Reed. The couple departed for a motor trip to Virginia Beach and the Smoky Mountains after the ceremony.
